That’s my fear....that this is our new normal every summer, whether the fires are coming from CO or further west. We’re downstream of everything west and this shit is happening for most of the summer

It poured in Fairplay and Almont today on the way to CB, and there was a good ~3 hours of steady rain here on the mountain.... more rain tomorrow and maybe later in the week too, should make for some primo trail conditions.

I have another campsite I'm happy to transfer to a Mag since I won't be using it.

7/22 - 7/25; tent only (non-electric) at the Blue Mountain Campsite near Lake George; ~$60. PM me if interested - planning to cancel Wed AM.

CB question: is there still dispersed camping up Washington Gulch or have they closed it down due to overuse?

I haven't been up this summer but I think the plane was to make everything "Camping in designated sights only" this summer. This was going to be up all of the main drainages out of CB, so includes Wash Gulch. No idea how prolific the designated sites are, but I've heard that they do fill up on the weekends. Good luck and report back.

Yeah, Blevins is the shit for sure.

CB camping pro tip. No dog? Not car camping? Camp in Mt CB town campsites. There are ~20 spots about a mile before the Snodgrass trailhead. Free. No one ever uses them. Port a potty. Seriously, no one ever uses them, they are fine if you're tent camping.

Wildest rain storm I’ve maybe ever seen up here this afternoon. No idea how much fell in Avon in about 30 min but it was a lot. Water pouring off the wildlife drainage, mud everywhere. Deep water all over Avon. That was nuts.

I’m seeing some crazy images online from Avon. Houses flooded, roads flooded, some with mudslides.

You could take a kayak and surf some of the holes coming up from the manhole covers. Went to the library and my traction control was going nuts in the mud.

Well, there’s a very easy drive-around from Eagle to Craig to Rifle! 🤦

Agree, my comment was referring to the fact that he basically has his "finger on the pulse" of the whole "CO outdoor scene™" and resulting Shitshow™, for good or bad. Seems to be paying off for him and I don't find too much BS in his writing, seems to usually be well researched and well written.

I've met him once and I would be surprised if he wasn't at least a TGR lurker if not an actual member/alias/mag.
