    Colorado Weather Discussion Thread

WP got caught with the ‘ol “snowgun over the snowstake” trick? That’s my guess.

Speaking of snowguns in weird places, some of you dudes who venture down 550 might find one in an extremely unexpected place. Its better seen with your own eyes than sprayed across the internet. Good luck

Are they now blowing snow directly on to the highway for nostalgia of winters past? It's gotten that bad?

Honestly, it is good to have something besides politics to bitch about for a day. ROLL TIDE!!!

Several instances where the YTD number mysteriously jumped up from the prior day even though there was no new snow on the daily snow report, on the snow stake and it had not snowed in days. It's gotta be the midnight visitor

since hut trips were mentioned in this thread, if anyone is interested in a weekend hut trip to a pretty cushy hut, with running water and dogs allowed, I recently canceled the 3rd weekend in February at this place: http://www.lonesomehut.com/index.html so there is a Saturday and Sunday night available (2-20 and 2-21).

I have never been to this hut before (and am bummed I had to cancel) so I cannot answer a lot of detailed questions about it, other than the "they allow dogs, have hot/cold running water, and photovoltaic power".

That's a cool area Danno, but not sure its quality ski terrain? Lots of deadfall and rolling terrain back there.

I have a little beta on where some nearby turns are, but yeah, I don't think it is a prime bc skiing hut. But it's pretty pimp with amenities not in most huts, and a short skin in so doable for families (we were going to take our kiddo). And allowing dogs is another huge bonus.

I’ve never found many good turns there and generally approach with 3 pins and fish scales with a burley trailer full of kids and fun in tow. There is a fine sledding hill just to the westish of the hut and some elevated mtb terrain features near by to play on. But it has a gas oven, flush toilette and a hot shower. It is a relatively flat, < 4 mile approach and a fantastic family trip.
