Just curious Steve, what is it looking like for your guiding adventures this summer? still normal?

Normal in a relative way.... there are things we'll have to do to meet local guidelines (wearing masks, spacing out in vehicles, etc) but as of now, all US-based trips are on as planned. I'm also waiting for the damn US/Canada border to open so we can run our Revelstoke trips in mid-August. We essentially lost about 30-35% of our revenue because of postponed/cancelled trips from April-June and some lost private trips this fall, hopefully we can make some of that up from July through November.

I could have been less curt, but this is TGR after all.

My take ... folks make reservations and then life happens.

In normal circumstances, we don't have visibility into who decided to go skiing the next day, but had to bail because of "surprise commitments". These are particularly difficult times for all concerned and I'll bet plans are blowing up more than usual.

At the end of the day, you didn't win the "lottery", so you couldn't go skiing. The "winners" won the option to buy a ticket and some didn't exercise it. That may suck, but you can either choose to stew over it or let it slide. I suggested the latter approach.

Here's hoping you're right about the Canadian border. I have a hut trip booked for New Years week and the operator got in touch this week to say that they believe there are better than 50/50 odds that Americans won't be able to get into Canada by then.

Yeah... I'm hopeful but not confident. Every time our idiot president opens his mouth, the odds seem to go down a little bit more.

A little RMNP beta FYI. Went back from Bear Lake yesterday (5/31). Dragons Tail still in (but tight) but with big cornice on the top. Went back to Tyndall. Prior days wet avy evidence for sure. We were up there by around 830 - was still soft, but snow was cohesive enough (top around 12.2k, straight east facing). FYI, if you go back around there, stick to south/Halletts side - still need to work through a big rock section, but way better than the climbers rights side. And we just cramponed the whole way. Maybe skins/ski crampons would've held and been easier

Tried to trail run Mt Flora from Berthoud summit yesterday. Haven't been up high in the front range in months and did zero research other than seeing no snow at 11,500 feet in the wet mountains last weekend.

There is probably 5+ feet of unsupporting, sun cupped snow on the Mines Peak road. Pups had a great time, but we didn't make it very far.

Where to start? You know it is the beginning of June? You know that the Wet Mountains and the Northern Front Range are fairly different in terms of annual snowfall?

But yeah, thanks for the PSA. Don't go trail running at Berthoud in the beginning of June. Got it!
