If you're in good shape, then I really like a double dip - descend Fooses on the first shuttle and have the second shuttle pick you up on the road for a Greens lap after. If you're not that fast, just run a car up there and start earlier, and hitch-hike back up to your car at the end of Greens. Best way to do the Crest imo. It may be mostly descending, but you'll feel pretty beat up by the end.

We did a trifecta a few years ago (Foose’s, Green’s, and Starvation).
Anyone wanna do some crest shuttling next week, maybe Thursday before it rains?

Well we hit it today, the classic way. But as soon as we hit Silver Creek the heavens opened up. Thought about waiting, but just descended in total puking rain. Bailed on Rainbow.

Wish we did Starvation, sounded better and they beat the storm.

Agate is a lot more fun if you bail on it before the 20 river crossings. That right hand turn to the highway doesn't take long at all and then you have a shorter shuttle to add in a Greens or a Fooses. Silver kind of sucks IMO, and it's only redeemed by the Rainbow trail, which I actually think is the best part of the classic Crest. But it's a pedally downhill, as noted above.

Those of you with exceptional technical biking skills should check out Boss Lake by going north from the pass. So gnarly.

If you love chunk, go farther and ride Long Branch or Big Bend. Hold on for dear life long baby head descents. I like it, I know, that's kind of weird.

But whatever, Whitepine Canyon Creek is better than all of the rest of it anyway.

Rode Hall Ranch yesterday, was considering heading up to West Mag but the rain convinced us to stay lower. It sprinkled on us off and on but never really rained hard. Temps were moderate, not hot but never really cold even with the rain. In other words, perfect Hall Ranch riding conditions. Still, on an after work ride, we saw a total of maybe half a dozen riders on the whole thing.

Too bad it can't always be like that.

I think I want a place in Salida. Or possibly just rent there for a few weeks every year.

salida was trashed years ago by everyone from scummit county moving there and ruining it by being summit county people
    next cool town please?
but......... the number of 100% hotties living there is very overwhelming for a guy like me
at least my neighbors put a van parking pad with full hookups in the ally behind their salida house so someone is winning

But there aren’t any t-shirt or flat brim hat shops there. What would one do there?

When was the last time you were in Salida? There's tons of that touristy shit now. It has kinda been taken down a notch. Still cool, kinda, but not what it used to be. Too close to the Frange. Need to get further out. And the RE there has gone bonkers.

and unless your doing three runs in one day off of monarch pass it isn't worth it just be careful how much you drink between runs two and three

Why *wouldn't* you do three runs in one day? At LEAST. Four is better.

Nonononono. Salida is perfect. Definitely do NOT come any further south or west. All we have is cows and meth. Salida is where it's at.
