I also think that resorts (and maybe VRI as a whole) should start rewarding people for carpooling, not try to punish them. For anyone that shows up to the lot with 3+ give them a primo spot, give them BOGO coupons for lunch or apres, etc. I brought this up years ago and I'm surprised no one has given it a shot.... but I'm not really all that surprised, because it's all about the money.
Aspen Highlands free parking with 4+, saves you $10/day on weekdays and $20/day weekends.

The whole state in in a perpetual state of depth whore (sp) from Nov-April every year. I'm over it. So sick of meadow-skipping, I'd rather brave the crowds at the resorts a lot of days and just ski bumps than going to try to slide down some sub-30degree slope. Boring AF. Now my dog is gone, I have 0 reason for that shit. [/rant]

Breck skied great today until patrol decided to shut down the tbar.....which I'm pretty certain was due to the rapidly rising avy danger in the bowl and not the wind/lift. To my knowledge, 6 Chair and Imperial never spun. No doubt some of the best days are the ones that begin with a small snow report (4" today) and then it just hammers all morning.......love it!

It was free for 3+ for years. Not anymore.

Weak sauce by Copper to take away the carpool incentive.

It's almost like reaching a Zen state. It's the usual Colorado horseshit snowpack. Business as usual.

It's much like being a Detroit Lions fan - maybe it'll be better next year. Knowing full well it won't.

No doubt. Life of a BC skiing mid-winter. Trees can be the answer.

Looked like most of the lifts at the Basin were shut down for the majority of the afternoon.

I would be one. I’ve had a vail pass every year since they started doing them minus the two years I worked at WP. Just had to throw in the towel at least for one year. $30 to park at vail -most free lots gone. $10 to park at BC. Whatever it is to park at breck, now basin chipping in. For the 5 day a year crowd no big deal. If you’re going to try to put down 50-60 days a year that adds up fast. 20 days of vail parking is $600. Yeah other areas have season passes way more expensive which would cover all that extra parking but it just feels like a penalty makes it seem worse I guess. Sucks cause I have lotsa friends and fam skiing those places. I mean the parking is part of it, the ridiculous fucking crowds on tuesday wednesday and thursdays probably more of it.

Oh well decided to go LL again, have had a pass there concurrent with Fail lots of years I have fun there. Check out some of the shared benefit mountains.

Glad I didn’t work to get to basin today just to find lifts shut. Wind indeed was hefty, LL Chair 1 shut about noon.

Not at all. The snowpack in the central mountains is much deeper with lots of hard slab mixed in.

Of course, on top of the hoarz.

What struck me about that video was that the pack had almost gone fully isothermic. In the opposite way that you would normally apply that descriptor.

You are not going to get any propogation on a pack of hoarz, but you put any slab whatsoever on that thing, and watch the fuck out.

+1 on getting tired of hearing resorts say they are green.

1st) We're totally fucked because tRump is prez
    B) It's already way too late
3rd) Resorts have fucking gas fire pits running all goddamn winter long, hot tubs, groomers and terrain parks; gimme a fucking break with your green bullshit

Some nice wind-fucked pow at LL this morning. Bluebird skis and coverage is getting nice in spots (and still scary as hell in others).
You should have been here yesterday!
