Good day at the Basin. Understand why people love it -- everything on Pali skied awesome. Beavers were meh, Zuma bowl along the cornice was good. Skied what I think is West Turbo? for the first time. And a few laps of Steep Gully 4. Not sure where other entrances are and was getting tired. Hike out ain't no 30min. Maybe half that.

I feel like it took me a long time to find Turbo. Fun run when it has enough coverage.

I think that they just weight the chairs a bit more for that type of installation. Imperial at Breck seems to do just fine in high winds.

Entrance to 4 was mostly fine. A couple of careful turns if you really care about your skis.

Need more guidance on entering other gullies. Lots of potential lines looked very thin.

^^^ Yeah, great day @ A Basin. I'd been back in steep gullies before but never had any real sense of the area. Bumped into patrol at rope drop and one of em gave us the full tour of SG's, and we ended by dropping in on #7. He was incredibly helpful, just a great dude, and really just wanted to get more folks familiar with the area. One easy FYI to pass along - all the gullies numbers are marked at the top (and bottom) with pink tape and the # (including individually 4.1-4.5)

Im cool with the early lineup, just trying feel out what it takes these days time wise to get in the first 10 public cars.

#2 is pretty straightforward - from the top, work down-left and then there's a pretty big and obvious drop in to the right - otherwise you're making the obvious traverse into the trees to the left. There's a rope running the ridge on the left side of #2. #2 prob gets skis the most. Coverage is pretty good except for top rollover entrance - just take it easy to avoid catching one of the rocks in there and pitching forward
#1 real thin and bony at the top, till you get into the main gully. Right side better coverage
And again, look for pink tape w/ numbers of each entrance - at least lets you know you're dropping into a defined line
And last, there's a closed sign at the top of one "entrance" in the 4's area - obey it (and any other closed signs), that one starts clean but then cliffs out pretty big - there was a whole tgr post on a mag getting belayed out of there
I don't think I'm giving up any real secrets here. Great area to explore, but have a buddy

I can feel the humidity in the air down here in Montrose. Sure don't say that often. Hoping for the high end of the forecast tonight!

Wrangler hut looks gone as well. Skied by it yesterday. Guess people don’t really need smoke shacks anymore now with all the edibles and vape pens and such.

To answer my own question, 7:00 does it. It is going to suck to watch all these early ups Joeys go up first but oh well. Currently dumping in the steamboat village.
