Oh, I am well aware. Fuck Vail 100%. I'm just talking East River to spread the crowds out. Should have just dropped the f'in rope on International already. Monument before International today sure was weird. Telluride has most of the mountain open with much less snow.
From what I've heard patrol is 20-25% rookies, which definitely isn't helping things.

Yeah, just East River would help so much. Lots of rookies on patrol, but also lifties, groomers, and snowmaking. And understaffed on top of it. I think it's snowmaking that really screwed up- all that equipment is buried under 5' of snow on International, lower Twister, and East river. They have to pull all of that out before they can open. Meanwhile, it keeps snowing and patrol has their hands full all the gapers anyway. That's why I think it's going to be a long long time.
Seriously, if anyone is thinking of driving down here from the front range just because we got a bunch of snow- don't. It will be a waste of your time.

Monarch is skiing really soft. That storm late last week really filled things in on leeward aspects. Heading back up tomorrow.

was thinking about this post/ topic while I was up there today. Most of the front range ikon passholders are able to get away with the base pass since they can still ski copper/ wp anytime, but I feel like Abasin is really playing up the lack of crowds to maybe entice some folks to go full ikon and have a less crowded experience during the holidays when its super busy everywhere else. Thing is I feel like most front rangers are just used to the crowds and cheap.
It does seem like a good chunk of the people there right now are the day/ multi day pass type and spending time/ money in the lodge. I do think starting january sometime/ when zuma opens we will see busier weekends til may.
Loving the vibe there and the skiing is fucking good right now.

You know I can never resist the opportunity to give them some shit. After all, if only Loveland was bootlicking the Ridge, I bet CB would be open wall to wall by now.
Good to hear that the chair 1 goodness is open for business. I've skied exactly one run this year, so I'm sure to get fully wrecked for my NYD party ski day.

Speaking of Wolf Creek - anyone skiing Friday/Saturday there this week? Would love to ski with some Mags, will be my first time there.
Also, if anyone has a place out there or knows someone who does, let me know. I have my Camper van I’m planning on Sleeping in with the dog. It’s insulated but no electricity or bathroom yet haha. Would love to find a place that’d let me run an extension cord out to the van for my space heater, and maybe use the shower after skiing.
PM me if anyone is interested in skiing or knows someone who might let me park out front. Happy to pay a bit too. I have an extra pair of Cease And Desists with demos on them I’d be happy to share! Maybee my Kusalas or Praxis Lhasas for a few runs…

I'm sure you'll be the only van there, you'll find something.

In my opinion the best place to park your van is Shaw rest area. They have heated bathrooms and water. Also you are out of the way for snow removal. The resort wants you to use the overflow lot below the snow shed.

Would be an awesome weekend to head to Wolf Creek with a case of Karo and some valve stem removal tools.

Wolf Creek has received more than 7' of snow in 7 days, with 28"-48" more in the forecast That's fucking nuts.
Things are deep here in the Juans. Best cycle I've been here for ever. What a way to start the season.
