In resort? Yes. Big mountain spring/summer? Yes. Not so sure about the mid-winter touring and slackcountry. Most of it either takes a lot of work, or isn't that safe, no?

Back to the weather....
Interesting day in Summit - was out from just before 7:00am until about 1:00pm - weather kept oscillating between sunny and then all-out blizzard. Every 20-40 minutes or so it would switch up. Didn't really add up to much accumulation wise, and was pretty windy, even below treeline.
Edit to add, so as to make sure this doesn't come off as bitchy Had a very fun day out there today. Weather wasn't bad - just very interesting.Last edited by spthomson; 03-15-2014 at 05:49 PM.

Same here. One minute sunny, next minute blizzard. And like you said, all that added up to about 2" of snow.

So smooth and buttery. Today surpassed my expectations.
I'm hoping we get back into a storm cycle before Spring sets in for good.

Feeling like summer down here in D. Hoping this keeps up and the crowds pretty much die down for the season.

hiked the tree chutes staircase and hit north Y chute at the basin today. Some really deep turns and also a few shark turns but it was great to get up there again as it's not open to often. The rest of the wall was great skiing and should be again tomorrow!

50-65mph gusts today in utah/western CO and 4 corners...could put a dust layer on the snow, something to watch.

The Ajax slackcountry is easy to access and is relatively safe for that reason (gets skied a lot) - having never skied EV, I would guess just by looking at it that the terrain in there is better, especially if jumping off of stuff is your thing. The high danger of the easy access stuff at Highlands (Maroon bowl, Five Fingers, etc) has been well documented. Personally I don't have a lot of experience heading out the gates at Snowmass but fatal avalanches over there are not uncommon so it can't be that safe.
TL;DR yeah you're probably correct
Also true, but if there's a mountain that skis better than Ajax in low tide conditions I would be very surprised.

some more great skiing in breck today. Not a single line, I think all the tourists thought it was too cold today. Lake chutes (or I like to call it Lake Bowl since it's so filled in) didn't open so that should be great tomorrow, although I'm thinking of heading to vail.... anyone ski there today?

They still need a ton of snow for it to ski well over there. Just got too warm.

It was super windy in Moab yesterday. The clouds of sand looked like it was raining. I really hope I didn't bring it back here.
