Closets was the most overplayed, overskied double-fall line run, bumped out from the first tracks pass holders for several years now.
There are WAY better trees. I'm not bothered by it. I'm happy there will be another gondy to get those beginners up and out of the base and up to wally world.
Now the 2 other new cuts you can't see in that pic, what I saw yesterday over in the Pioneer area made me say 'wow'. That's the real bummer.
But progress. Right? This is what we all get. Thanks breeders, err I mean Ikon Pass......
/s
At least maybe Telluride will be on the Ikon Pass year after next. Maybe.

That would suck. Tride is the only other CO area I care about on the dumb Epic pass that I'm locked into. Already lost A Bay. Yeah, I said that on purpose, settle down.

Not sure I understand the appeal for TelSki to swap over to Ikon.
I'd love it as someone who lives locally and would have bought the Ikon this year if they were on it, but why would they give up that South American/Midwest families travel money that always comes and stays up in mountain village? I would bet that the SLC folks, who make up the majority of Ikon pass holders, are not as interested in ponying up that kind of dough. I also cannot imagine the front range CO locals will make up the difference with it being a 7 hour drive while gas is still well over $4.50 a gallon.

Having Monarch, Taos, and Bridger days on the Basin pass makes up for it I guess. Sorry, I don't know the annoying nicknames for those resorts though.
It'll be interesting to see how ski area visits are affected by the crazy high gas prices, and crazy high lodging prices this season. We were looking at planning a few trips to ski elsewhere this season and losing rates are insane, not to mention flights.

14hr drive round trip, say you burn 3gal/hr (25mpg) == 42gal.
At 4.50$ thats $190.
At 2.50$ thats $105.
I don't think $85 makes or breaks a ski vacation for most anyone. And $85 ain't anything to do with "wealth". Gas is one of the least expensive parts. That's a partial day lodging, apres ski for a family of 4, rentals for one day or a burger and two fries at Vail Corp.

I spend $100 on fuel every weekend all winter. Have been doing it for 10 years.

Considering I grew up there I can imagine. And I know they don't spend money like families from the midwest, Texas or Mexico splurging on a 7 day ski vacation staying at a hotel in Telluride...
Gas may not be the main factor, but no one has made a good argument for why Telluride would give up the clientele I mentioned above for Ikon.
