I’ve just come to the conclusion that construction is synonymous with that stretch of 50. If it’s the price pay for not having to go down south on weekends though, I’m fine with that.

In other news, breck has reported 3” four days in a row, and with almost zero wind it has been skiing awesome up high.

Dumping pretty good in Breck for a few hrs this evening. Dry roads on the N side. Weird. Could be a sleeper day at Breck if you are into that kinda thing.

Same on this side of the Elks. These little storms day in and day out are working well for us.

Headed down to Silverton this weekend and faced with ski choices. What does the collective choose between Rustler 11s or Moment Wildcats?

Are either of them red? If so, pick the red ones. They go faster.
The older I get, the faster I was.

Orange is just a more yellow red, but the moments have bits of red in them.

A-Basin was skiing quite nicely yesterday. Big shout-out to gmorgg who hooked my wife and I up with F&F discount.

Beaver trees sure could use some more snow. It was rocks and stumps and logs galore in there.

Pali was in great shape. Too bad I'm not.

In case anyone doesn't read the Eldora clusterfuck thread in the main forum, we're having a mini next Wednesday.

I was up there yesterday, and of course things can change by next Wednesday, but it was skiing as well as it has all season. Everything was great.

How does a mini work there? Is it first chairs or more apres?

fuck if I know, lol. We did one last year with an early morning meetup, but that was on a weekend and it was necessary because the lot fills up. We skied a bunch, had some grilled meats and beers at the car midday, and (I think) skied a little more.

But this year, with parking reservations, it seemed like weekends were out so we somewhat arbitrarily chose Wednesdays and somewhat arbitrarily chose the 31st. Parking won't fill up. There currently is no plan beyond that.

heck, conditions seem really good down there. Been seeing lots of steep terrain being skied in Telluride/silverton area.

Looking forward to getting steep lines in the backcountry. Milking mellow slopes all season has tested my patience.

Also if Jefferson County is on spring break is this a good time to come and Enduro skid front range trails? Brown pow?

Report from a friend who lives at the top of Lookout is there is still a foot of snow around his house, so Chimney is still out from what he can tell. He also said the gate at the top of Apex is closed, so there's that. And we've got more snow on the way tonight, so my best guess (without actually putting tires on trails myself) is late this week at the earliest. I think my lady is going to try and go for a run on South Table this afternoon to assess the situation before the snow comes in.
