Rontele- This thing still gonna drop any snow or is it done now? Also if I am reading it right, Friday looks like just an inch or two. Does NYE still have big snow potential?
ROLL TIDE ROLL
They all have big snow "potential".... but they fizzle out faster than Akili Smith.
I take exception(not really) to Rontele telling me it was just getting started. This thing did indeed fizzle. It "snowed" all day in Vail, however it was so small that it was at a rate of about an inch a year!!!!
I was on Fremont Pass at 2pm today and it was 1 degree, tonight is gonna be cold. Think Snow!!!

Snow advisory again for the next 36 hours or so. I feel better about this storm than the last because the moisture looks better. Fingers crossed that we get the 7-14 projected. Next week looks like high pressure and warm temps until Friday or so. Come on Ullr, keep it coming!

Damn I wish I could hit the Beav on Monday. Maybe it'll still be good on Tuesday.![]()
We are headed to Denver for a HUDGE NYE party. We have to pick up the in-laws at DIA on Tuesday morning, drive them to Laramie, then drive back to Vail. Thus I am sure it will be a mega epic snow day and shitty driving conditions on Tuesday.

looks like the 2-4 tonight is too much, tomorrow and tomorrow night should be the event. Accumulation predictions appear to be all over the place, I've seen anywhere from 1 to 14! Who knows?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Looking good for this weekend ... enough so that I won't be going to Vegas any more.

If I already didn't do a 10-hour drive this past weekend, I might be tempted to go back to Silverton where it should be $$$.

System looks somewhat similar to events at the beginning of December though I think that the SW mtns will get the brunt of the snow at least until Sunday when a more unstable airmass moves over.
Both the 12z and 00z GFS QPF forecasts were impressive with over two inches of water for most of the western slope.
mmmmmmmmm

"They don't think it be like it is, but it do."
The forecast for Wolf Creek doesn't look half bad. I hope the Summit/Eagle forecasts are somewhere near that.
warning, warning, warning, warning
looks like a good weekend.

Hey Rontele-
No mention of rain in the forecast discussion, but 40 degrees tomorrow in Vail seems warm. Will this start as a brief rain event then turn to snow later in the day? Gonna be on like Donkey Kong this weekend!!!
ROLL TIDE ROLL
no, shouldn't rain with it being 40 degrees. once the system actually pushes over vail it will be falling as snow and won't warm up enough to make it melt as is it falls. and, the falling snow will make the temps drop so that 40 degrees won't be around long......i hope.
The storm warning is for 1-2 feet through 6PM Sunday, but the highest % chance of snow is actually on Monday.![]()
If the flow is more southwesterly, as you know, the Aspen area gets shadowed pretty hard by the W. Elks. But looking at the models, the flow looks a tad more WSW (like the early Dec. events). Monday has the highest percentage, imho, because by then both cold fronts would have moved through and the flow will be a more true west/northwest.
There is going to be so much moisture that even in a SW flow, it will overrun the W. Elks. Should be a good wkend.
