Ha...I had to help with a Avalanche Awareness Class for the Comp Center Kids.

But my weekend window is still open. It'll shut shut soon and not open until late March. Except maybeeeeee Sunday afternoons.

Peps was closed yesterday but that didn't strike me as strange. Funny that I was joking yesterday that I've had less than 5 drinking in the Club Car my whole life. That place is for realtors, ski schoolers, city peeps and other movers and shakers.

My people go to Peps or Snoasis. I don't even feel welcome in Derailer.

I feel this. the whole scene, like everything about it, can just be such a turnoff to me sometimes.
I can probably say this about most scenes. And I'll own that there was probably a period in time where I was making it worse, not better.

Its just going for a walk in the woods with your friends. Hopefully ski some pow. Don't die.

Yes beacon, shovel, probe to travel in avalanche terrain. Yes Level 1 and Companion Rescue is a great idea. Make Backcounty Skiing Great Again.

Currently more snow in town than up at the ski area. This is bullshit.

Breck was actually quite fun yesterday, always love this time of year that it doesn't ever really get crusty underneath when it only snows 3-5 inches.

Truth. A trace of snow but at least it got super cold and windy and the roads got slick, and all the glassy lake skating got trashed.

copper was real nice in places today and wind/ cold sticky snow affected in others. drain pipe to cabin chute was definitely skiing the best with the way the wind blew. cold out there but worth it.

    Can confirm.

Just change "glassy lake skating" to "hero dirt mountain biking" for the Salida side.

Aspen's currently got the best conditions in NA.
It would behove anyone to ski here, in the near future.

I'm not much of a skater but flying across blue mesa or one of the downstream rez's with glass conditions sounds like a great time

Thanks, I want to check it out! I am currently stuck in Denver hopefully back soon.

Twin Lakes was the place to be from what I saw/heard. I was down at Lake San Cristobal in Lake City.

A few years ago I got to skate Morrow Point down in the Black, that's one of the coolest things I've ever done for sure. Seems to be a 1/10 year event.

I was thinking of coming up for Highlands' opening and skiing for a few days.
Are they still opening on the 14th?
I imagine weekend skiing up there isn't too busy?
I normally hoard my days there and end up not using them.

Is it the Airport bus that runs to Highlands?
Pretty sure its not from Rodeo.

That would be the one I'd love to do, cruising next to the cliffs in the canyon would be surreal.

copper was great yesterday. I was mostly just skiing around sierra, and will say that new timberline chair is actually a cool addition for getting around that side of the mtn.

Yes, the 14th they open Highlands, Buttermilk, 1A and probably High Alpine/Springs. It's a great weekend and also Winterskol w/Fireworks.

There are direct Snowmass to Highlands buses at 9&10 that stop at Hwy 82 Park & Ride.

Brush Creek Park and Ride and Buttermilk are the best remote parking for Highlands. Buttermilk should still have a shuttle running. You should get there early-ish if you want a spot. Parking at highlands for a day will likely be in the $40 range now.

Pretty fun and fast chalky laps at the basin this morning on the spine and Main Street. Even a little soft snow in some other places

Fast, icy laps at Eldora, in between work breaks on the laptop. We. Need. Snow.
