Just a lot of wind effect at that aspect/elevation and quite a bit of debris lying around after the beetle mitigation. They were on alpine gear with snow shoes. I'm sure it was epic.

Basin was nice the last few days actually. Short, but good snow quality. Just good to get the legs burning. They need to get the upper mountain open and tracked before it all blows away. I'm guessing they are short on employees this time of year for all that though.

Thinking I'll work a half day tomorrow for some mid week copper turns, place looked like a nightmare last weekend. wish they would get the damn flyer open already. have they even been blowing snow to the bottom of there yet? and is copper now the most popular ski area among the front range skiers? feels that way.

I don't ski Copper as much as I should. It is a superior early season ski area to Wanker Park in everyway. It has always been that way. So the IKON Peeps go there until the Gondi and Eskimo open.

I have to remind some people about how bad it actually is. The Arrow and Lower Larry Sale is basically the allure somewhere like Big Birch with the sexy logistics of going to the mall. You want more top to bottom groomers, we have none. It really is a pretty laughable experience.

I went to an early season clinic at Winter Park one time - two days of skating across flats is what I remember.

Oh yeah, well the Harold Harb clinics are going at the basin so you have these nerdy lookin folks out there in big groups micro analysing each other's turns. At least they aren't ski racers I guess.

Why do you have uphill traversing...that's the good part. But yes, everything about the Park Side base has always been a mess. Hence my standards. I either park at the Jane or have the bus drop me off at the Gondi. But sheep will sheep and suffer.

Ok so Wolf Creek has had 64 inches and is 95% open with 10 lifts and 1510 acres.

Copper has had 62 inches and is like 4% open with 6 lifts and 89 acres.

    Very weak Copper.

Just stop. Or go get a comment card. Most ski areas are not even open. Traditionally, there was a hard date for opening usually a week before Thanksgiving. We are pushing something like a 7month ski season in Colorado on your Epic or IKON.

I know all the kool kids hate on ski area management but please. You have so much free time that the best think you can do is ski mid November shit ass groomers and bitch?

Most ski areas are not fully staffed this time of year. J1 visas and other employees usually start around or after Thanksgiving at least I think. Copper also has a large part of the mountain close to the public for race teams. This also uses up employees. It has always been like this. They don't financially count on large early season dumps to open terrain.

There's something different at Copper this year, please correct me if I'm wrong. Super Bee has not been spinning. In the past they had a huge course (downhill?). No world cup training this year?

There is racing on Copperopolis, but it doesn't seem like the same numbers of young ski clubs from the east coast here this year. I haven't been loading with them in the morning this year so I'm not really sure.

Amount of skiers also plays a big part into this. Having that many people on the runs, including lots of shitty skiers, really deteriorates the snow quality pretty quickly. Copper just needs more snow than wolf does to safely open terrain. Once people are more spread out, like after flyer and timberline open, they will be able to keep things open. hopefully that is soon but I wouldn't count on flyer til next weekend, though I could be wrong.

The weak thing copper has started doing is cutting the run over to fair play instead of keeping it down main vein, makes it look like more runs are open than there actually are. Could argue it is to build more base for where they eventually put the skier/ snowboard cross but I think its a marketing tactic.

I'll go make a few runs at the basin today and enjoy what we have before heading to Denver for a night out in the big bad city.
