I bet Copper will be pretty good, when it opens.

Our dirt is done. But I had an absolutely fantastic FATe ride today.

    4-5" of untracked is perfect!

I was hoping for more than just American Eagle for Copper's opening day. They may not have the staff, but will be set up for a good early season. From their Facebook:

Add 7” inches today, which brings this storm total to 28” since Sunday. ?? Less than 2 days ‘til opening day and we can’t thank our mountain teams enough for the round-the-clock work they’re putting in to get our terrain ready to rip! Here’s what you can expect for Opening Day this Friday, 11/8:? American Eagle lift will start spinning for first chair at 8:55am. We’ll have free hot chocolate & DJ Landry in Center Village for all you early birds! The first 50 skiers & riders in the American Eagle lift line will get a custom @yeti Yonder water bottle! Remember to stay hydrated on your first day back. Rhapsody, Fairplay, Main Vein, Easy Rider learning area, & @woodwardcopper American Eagle Park (with roughly a dozen features) will be open for skiing & riding.

surprised not to see excelerator opening up with ptarmigan and the potential to drop some ropes up there. maybe in the coming days? would say some skiing on upper main vein and foul play might not be completely out of the question but I wouldn't go in expecting it. there have been patrollers up there the past almost week or so with the early season race camps going on but it very well may be just a few of them. even so I imagine they have been getting out doing ski cutting/ packing when and where they can. hopefully this shot of snow Friday into Saturday does something for us to keep trending in the right direction.

went up for a first ski tour on Monarch, 10 degrees, 30mph winds, almost got stuck on the summit but saved by CDOT, retreated a couple miles and salvaged the day,

Those doggos look cold! We just walked around the block.

They are going to open Excelerator for a little while to let it get beat to shit by the masses. Might happen around 10a if not right off the bat.

I am new to skiing ski areas. I watched all the effort wolf creek put into opening and staying open. They have definitely not been making money. Than I thought about copper. 50 acres open. I guess corporate resorts only look at the bottom line. Screw the average skier.

Breck only had the usual one and a half runs open today, which was a bit lame considering the snow. However, it has all come within a week and they just haven't had chance to really set everything up, I imagine next week will have quite a lot open up.

It's a wonder they make any money all year.

Early opening's are primarily for public relations. Doesn't matter if they open 50 or 500 acres,. 9 News/NBC doesn't care. It's a sound bite.
But it does generate future revenue.

That was great! That was all filmed in the spring of 76.
76-77 was a shitty season, one of the worst ever.

I love when the season holds out to the last minute then all of the sudden, boom! it is winter.

Today was a nice first day of the season for me. Even got some "Directed skiing" on lower Ramrod. Haha, kind of a joke, and patrol was taking it very seriously. Like, come on guys, it is lower Ramrod. Let's remember to keep some perspective here.

24-36" up on Monarch, ridge line blown to 6", skied quite well, gave some Denver monkeys a lift to the summit of the pass for perfect trees, sketchy

How are those trees skiing now since they did all that clearing a few years ago?
