This has been the vail way for over a decade . Lodging and parking too. Why do you think decks are so popular and bus ridership is through the roof?

Five days of snow in the forecast starting on Sunday. I'm here for it!

Rode the bike yesterday, through shallow refaceted snow over frozen ground. It was fun, pretty good traction with a little swimming around. Just a few more days and then on to Copper...

That road looks in great shape for being up so high, but I guess it needs to be with ore hauling trucks on it all day

I rode my mtb again this morning, the trail tops out almost at 10,500 and the snow up there is not melting. I'm learning it's like with a snowmobile, when in doubt, hit the gas.

Can probably ride one last time tomorrow but I guess it won't be nice and sunny ...

seems like you could just avoid paying and the shitshow by just parking in the Keystone River Run lot and taking the Summit Stage to the basin... there are buses once an hour...anything I am missing?

If many people do that often, it will be the excuse Keystone needs to institute pay parking like they wanted to. Believe me the resort has people tracking this and there was even talk about changing the bus route so people couldn't. Vail is strongly disinterested in having their parking used by Ikon skiers.

Conference center lot works even better. You'll get a better seat!

made some basin runs this morning, pretty chill there and felt good to get the skis under me. run is narrow at the bottom and snow isn't great but its early. hoping this snow today and then this week pans out.

thinking I will pivot to more copper days in the coming weeks but I do wonder how timberline is finishing up, feel like that's one of the better areas for the earlier skiing and the only time I really like skiing that lift. when its just eagle it gets a little hectic between the public and racers. flyer kinda drives me insane but the terrain park run is fun before it becomes the park.

the snowstake is only about 18" tall, so like 16"~

bout the same here in breck, was simply amazing watching it all fall after about 3pm on yesterday. Even better that we got home from Moab at 1pm and beat it home, shit starting closing down quick in 70.

Gonna take some laps at the basin and maybe key on the way home this morning

And the basin reports 4", and their snowstake cam is "down for maintenance". Weird, I have at least 8" on my deck.

turned on some basin cams at one point last evening and it wasn’t even snowing there while absolutely dumping in silverthorne. eventually started up there but I can see how they got a lot less based on that. bummer but this should be good for copper opening up this week.

more snow tomorrow night into wednesday

Yeah, that’s really what they needed to do to make this work better. I’m going to have to go some this season this way.

On another note: Eldora is opening early!

Was hoping for the platform near hwy 93 considering half the travel time is crawling from there to downtown...but glad to see train improvements regardless

Yeah, those prices look great. Train, bus & carpool acceptance may actually make a difference. But then we will need more lifts and terrain.

I haven't looked but can I grab the afternoon train, have a night out in the city then train home?

And our public transpo in the County is getting a lot better. My idea is that, at least on weekends, we should have some neighborhood circulator mini busses through the more dense neigborhoods feeding the big bus.

Dream on. It will still be fucked.

this storm is shifting around to the east and ruining the bike riding. At least Wolf Creek squeezed something out of it.

GJ/Fruita looks like a dusting, too. This storm is dumb, other than WC, the Sangres, and Taos it isn't really helping out most of the ski areas that much- maybe Loveland, Arapahoe Basin, WPK etc if there is enough upslope that far North. Oh well. On the plus side if this pattern keeps up it could be a great year to ski in the Sangres.
