Looks like good snowmaking weather end of next week, we'll see a lot of openings after 2 weeks I bet.

yup crunchy till about 10 then corn off Bonanza. Treasury was nice about 1 pm for spring skiing on a bluebird day with pockets of pow...if you dare. Amazed at the terrain that was skied. Really compacted and or let the air out most of the western half of the resort.

I’m in Bayfield. SF and DN are more my style…too far from a chairlift for now.

Got a silverton unguided pass. And I’ll be at Wolf probably 6 or so days this season…didn’t buy a pass there.

But yes, I’m hope to ski w/ mags at wolfy and silverton this season.

Yep. Put a fork in it...maybe? Mid 60s at 9k yesterday afternoon. I saw a lot of OGs out that "just like riding my bike". I went beyond tired until dark because it may be 6 months until I can MTB from the house.

Guessing 1.5"+ in town in Silverton but only a few accumulating inches. Loud snow falling off trees and roofs all night.

Also, what happens when your kid is in a multi week lesson program and you aren’t able to get a reservation. Do you drop off and then come back, unable to ski yourself? Fuck that.
They are not going to be checking at the gate, that makes zero sense. They will -- I assume -- be patrolling the lots with a computer system to confirm that the license plate has a reservation.

As for lesson programs and the like, I assume those will come with a reservation (or the opportunity to buy one). When my kid raced at Eldora during covid, every kid in the program got a parking reservation.

But maybe I am wrong on that, because how do they check that you are a "carpool" if they are only patrolling the lot?

Edit: reading the FAQ, sounds like they will be checking for 4 people when you enter and will give you a placard to put on your dash: "Our parking attendants will verify as you enter the lot, whether that be High Noon, Early Riser, Last Chance, or Upper Last Chance. If you have 4 or more skiers or riders in your car, you will receive a placard to put on your dash. "

I confirmed with Abasin that if you have a reservation and in the lot before 1pm, you are not considered a no-show. I'm going to milk my parking pass and roll in late on those super cold Dec/Jan non-powder days. Get ready for a shitshow in the lots at 1pm when everyone w/o a reservation piles in.

Hopefully a lot of folks decide they don't want to bother with the reservation crap and just hit Copper/Wanker Park.

There won't be a shit show at 1pm. The entire reason no reservation is required after 1pm is because people leave and parking frees up. I mean, sure, at 1pm there might be a few more than would otherwise show up, but it won't be terrible.

always cracks me up that when one ski area or another starts doing parking reservations, they always have to make extra communication after their original posts about it because it's so damn confusing. Why is something so simple also so hard to communicate..

Well, you see, the fines are actually for ‘Not’ parking at the basin.

I encourage everyone to boycott the place. I however, will ski there, but will be boycotting the f&b as much as possible.
