^^^agree. Could get pretty busy but that’s going to be an awesome addition to the Front Range. Between this, Maryland Mtn, Warren Gulch and Floyd Hill, there’s some great mtn biking in the Idaho Springs area. And Virginia Canyon/Floyd Hill is almost year round riding.

New fire (Goltra Fire) above Tunnel 1, Clear Creek Canyon just past Golden. This one grew overnight and will probably grow today. Very close to Golden....

Most likely started by lightning yesterday late afternoon.

Just saw Imogene and Black Bear passes are closed due to mudslides. Black Bear is done for the season.

It would suck to be part way through the narrows of Black Bear, come on a mudslide, and have to back all the way up. Hey anyone here driven those passes in a Tundra and how was that experience?

Done Imogene but only hiked Black Bear... I wouldn't want to do either in a stock Tundra for sure. Imogene is doable... but do you really want to? I did most of my "wheelin" in a stock 02' Sequoia... mineral creek down from engineer into Ouray was the most fucked up of all the trails here imo.

The rain the past few days has been insane. Maybe 2"+ in a few hours yesterday. More rain in the forecast for the next few makes me think we'll see a few more closures.

I’m guessing the little hole around us with no ground strikes is the grounded water tank in the back yard

Anyone know where to find a radar loop from the past 12 -24hours? Would love to be able to see where and when it rains overnight.

    That would be very helpful.

I have a rain gage next to my hot tub, I check every morning. We had 75mm last night and 125mm the night before.
I was just out with the dogs on the paved MUTs and it's raining lightly.
I'm holding off hitting the dirt until this next cell passes.

Was just looking up this topic to see if I could figure out what hit us at lawn lake in rmnp around 10pm last night...seemed like the cell rebooted 2 or 3 times. Wasn't brutal by alpine standards but did have my full attention when the flashes and bangs started to sync up.

I was able to get replays with this (we are 6hrs behind UTC) but not very hi res, there's so many toggles on the left I may have missed the right one tho

Already sick of non-biking locals in town asking me at the shop if I'm ready for winter.

I'm not ready for winter till like mid November unless we get an early dump or something. Otherwise, I'm heading west to the desert or south of the border every chance I get.

In my shop, I’m just happy to finally answer some questions that are skiing related after a summer of, “you live here year round?” “What’s the best food in town?” And “what time does the train bus you in to open town up?”

Everyone with their head on straight knows we’ll be biking for the next three months

Quiet now! Favorite part of bike season for me. I love when it gets shut down by a big storm and I can cap off the season by putting the bike away one weekend and clicking into skis the next.

Anyone down in Gunny area had to go through the bridge clusterfuck yet? How bad is it? Thinking of heading that way to Lake City and through to Montrose in a few weeks and wondering how long it'll take. Thx

    https://www.codot.gov/projects/us50bluemesa/access

    Prior to Friday, Aug. 30:

One lane of the bridge is open twice daily for single-direction traffic between 6:30 and 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. seven days a week. One lane on the US 50 Middle Bridge will be open during those times and a pilot car will lead smaller vehicles across the bridge one direction at a time. Flaggers will be posted to separate which traffic can go over the bridge and which traffic will need to use the County Road 26 detour.

    Starting Friday, Aug. 30:

Travel over the US 50 Middle Bridge will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. seven days a week, including the Labor Day holiday. Travel will initially still be limited to lighter vehicles. As work progresses, heavier vehicles and vehicles towing trailers will eventually be allowed across the bridge with the goal of opening travel to all legal loads by mid-October.

Vehicles approved for travel over the Middle Bridge:

    Passenger Vehicles
    Pickup Trucks
    Vans
    Motorcycles
Emergency vehicles, ambulances and fire trucks
    Bicycles
    School buses

Vehicles that will need to continue using the County Road 26 detour:

    RV/Campers
    Motorhomes
Trucks pulling trailers (boats, campers, side by sides)
    Semi trucks
    Buses
