Regarding the Keystone suggestion, assuming they haven't banned ebikes you could ride up the cat road. I've done it on an acoustic bike and it's not a bad option. Then fun trails down.

I’m surprised VR allows that.
We can ride up Aspen Mountain on the county “summer road”, but not descend on the only trail.
Which is a shame, cause it’s a really steep/ hard trail that rarely gets ridden, because the up is just way to hard.
Smuggler 4wd road to Warren Lakes is another ebike route, that’s just too hard for 98% of Mtbers.

I'm honestly surprised that more people don't ride up and down at Keystone. You are basically guaranteed a really fun downhill run that is better and longer than most downhill runs in the state. I mean if you took girl/Boy Scout or Mosquito Coast and put it anywhere else in CO it would be considered an "Epic" ride. Way more fun than a lot of the most popular trails that I can think of. And there's never anyone there, at least in my experience.

was doing that during pandemic summer when they weren't loading bikes, was pretty sweet except for still being a bunch of employee traffic coming down every time I was pedaling up. I can usually get a couple free bike haul passes though so just get my keystone laps in then.

Sorry for the shameless plug, mags, but trying to get the word around that my shop (Slope Style) is now finally doing bikes. I've wanted to for years and recently the ownership changed which is allowing us to do so. We have a dynamite mechanic, James, who works Breck patrol in the winters and has an exceptional amount of mechanic experience. Would be stoked to offer mag discounts on service, demos, and retail. So if you guys need anything in passing or whatever lemme know!
In weather news, looks like that dust layer is rearing it's head back in again, although seems snowpack in the N mtns is right around normal thanks to those couple weeks of cold and snow.

some fun skiing still to be had out there this past weekend...
first stop was the flat tops. I wouldn't recommend skiing the flat tops in June, but it was nice to give the skis a warm up walk for all the walking they'd do the rest of the weekend i guess
pretty much all the turns i made in the flat tops
next stop was the gentle giant herself
started with the Box Creek Cirque
then we jumped over the ridge and skied the SE facing twin chutes off the east ridge
Next day, we went up Missouri Gulch to ski North Face Couloirs on Missouri Mountain and NW gully on Belford. the first view of both objectives
Missouri mountain. We were able to start skinning around 12000 feet
After skiing Missouri, I ran up to Belford solo and skied the NW gullies which were still offering a 2000 foot descent (skied from 13800 to 11800). Tube was a little dirty but you really can't beat a little tube skiing! The main trail to Belford also is on the ridge above the tube so I had a hiker cheering me on as i skied by. Sorta like skiing under the chairlift ha
finished off the weekend with a bike ride in Breck

Nice work, brutah!
Headed to Indy Pass this weekend for some camping and skiing, hope there's at least a little left. I'm not super picky."fuck off you asshat gaper shit for brains fucktard wanker." - Jesus Christ

There are a shitload more Moose than there used to be in this state. When I moved here in the mid nineties I saw maybe one moose every few years, if I was lucky, and I spent a lot more time in the woods back then. Now I see them swamp donkeys all the damn time. At least 10 or more times a year. The population is thriving for whatever reason. I think the DOW is issuing more tags so hopefully that can get the population under control.

I’ve seen them at West Mag often. I’m guessing the dog bothered it and it got aggressive? You’re right, the population is thriving.
