"Latest GOES imagery and RAP analyses show isentropic upglide, aided by frontogenetical lift within the 850-700 mb layer, occurring over a deep cold frontal intrusion that is draped zonally across the state."

I mean if that doesn't turn you on do you really even like snow?

The snow stake cam shows a heap of snow.

I've spent a couple hours today knocking snow off tree branches in south Boulder -- we've gotten maybe 6-7 inches of wet snow so far.

biggest shit show since epic pass days. Was a few fun turns since I got everywhere early but left at 10, but snow was light and deep enough that it was meh since only mellow terrain is open.

People were ducking ropes everyone and patrol was going mad running in circles trying to catch people.

The King Cornice rope ducking was pure chaos. Countless people ignoring the closure, getting wrecked in the rockfield, and then meeting a wall of patrollers. Never seen anything like it.

Even with the madhouse crowds and lame terrain, it was special to get deep pow turns in late May. Good times out there!

I had fun at A Basin today. I had a funny feeling it would be the most crowded day of the year…and it was. All about keeping expectations in check.

Was just looking through my photos from years past and May 20, 2011 was a pretty big pow day at A-Basin and they still had Pali and zuma open. From my recollection, it was pretty empty because it just kept snowing that month so there wasn’t the novelty of a single big snowstorm.

What I wouldn’t do for another year like 2011!

I'll be glad when they replace that lift. Never liked it. Wish they'd reinstall the mid lift drop off.

Maybe not the most optimal place to ask this....but does anyone know what the deal is with the A-Basin BC gate at the top of Montezuma this time of year? Can you still access that gate? If so, are you allowed to hike up standard North Pole (in-bounds) bootpack if you go through the gate as long as you exit into Thurman's Bowl or Chihuahua Gulch and don't ski the east wall?

Thinking about piecing together a tour/shuttle through chihuahua gulch that utilizes that gate as access...It looks like a gold mine of spectacular spring lines can be accessed from that gate if A-Basin allows it and you play your cards right. If that gate is accessible, it even becomes feasible to huff it with backpacking gear to camp in Chihuahua gulch and ski in there for a couple of days.
