I live right behind Elk Park Road, which was the battle line for the Middle Park fire that came pretty damned close last summer, we were under prevac orders. Well they finally got the gate open for atv's and 4x4's just day before yesterday. Hiked up that evening and a party was 'camped' on one of the new pullouts the fire crews cleared, having a huge fucking bonfire. Fucking unreal. Jerks.

Smoky drive from Telluride today. Could barely see the Sneffels Range from Dallas Divide or the Grand Mesa from Grand Junction.
Whole state seems in wildfire smoke yet again. So fucking depressing.

A slight pitter patter on the roof tonight. It's soothing.

Anyone driving from Monarch/Poncha Springs to Leadville tomorrow afternoon/evening? Getting on the CO trail southbound Tennessee Pass to 50, planning to shuttle the car and hitch north. Would love to buy someone some Elevation/Eddyline on the way for the lift...

Finally a good soaking rain for the hills. Next few days like this should hopefully help reduce the chances of dumbass out of towners burning out homes to the ground.

Oh yeah. Even got a good soaking down here in the desert, though lots of lightning. I might have just went and stood in it for a few minutes.

There's been 4 I70 closures in the last 2 hours because, people don't understand hydroplaning is a real thing.

Hopefully it gets us into an actual monsoon season in 2-3 weeks, too.

It only got a little misty up here. Some sprinkles and cooler weather around the valley, but no downpours. Right as any cell looks to be approaching on the radar, it quickly dissipates or splits. Steamboat got the shaft. We're dry and dusty af.

The cooler temps will for sure result in illegal campfires this weekend.
