Yep, gun ranges have started multiple fires in CO this season. Should be interesting to see what the story is. Our gun range has had a few fires started over the years. The thought is if they close the range, then people will go into the woods to shoot and start fires in more remote locations.
Pretty fucking stupid really.

...REMNANTS OF HURRICANE ROSA AND PASSING DISTURBANCES WILL BRING
WIDESPREAD PRECIPITATION TO THE REGION THIS WEEK...
THE REMNANTS OF HURRICANE ROSA WILL MOVE INTO THE FOUR CORNERS
REGION TUESDAY CAUSING WIDESPREAD RAINFALL TO SPREAD OVER MOST OF
EASTERN UTAH AND WESTERN COLORADO THROUGH THURSDAY. BEFORE THAT
HAPPENS, A FEW SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE ON MONDAY AS
A WEAK DISTURBANCE MOVES THROUGH THE AREA. PRECIPITATION AMOUNTS
WILL BE MINIMAL.
STARTING TUESDAY, DEEP MOISTURE WILL START MOVING UP FROM THE
SOUTH AND FAVOR THE HIGHER TERRAIN WITH PRECIPITATION. BY
WEDNESDAY, AN APPROACHING TROUGH WILL CONTINUE TO WORK ON THE
AVAILABLE MOISTURE AND KEEP THE RAINFALL GOING ACROSS THE AREA.
CURRENT THINKING IS 1 TO 2 INCHES OF LIQUID PRECIPITATION FOR THE
HIGHER ELEVATIONS, ESPECIALLY THE SAN JUANS, WITH LOWER AMOUNTS
FOR THE VALLEYS. LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS WILL BE POSSIBLE.
THE UNSETTLED WEATHER CONTINUES FRIDAY ONWARDS AS ANOTHER COLDER
TROUGH IS EXPECTED TO DROP DOWN FROM THE NORTHWEST AND STRENGTHEN
OVER THE AREA. MODELS ARE SUGGESTING THIS LOW WILL REMAIN
RELATIVELY STATIONARY AND CAUSE MORE PRECIPITATION THROUGH
MONDAY. THE HEAVIEST RAINFALL IS EXPECTED TO OCCUR SATURDAY NIGHT
THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING. AS THIS TROUGH WILL BE COLDER, SNOW
LEVELS ARE ALSO EXPECTED TO DROP ALLOWING SOME LIGHT SNOW
ACCUMULATIONS FOR THE HIGHEST ELEVATIONS.
THIS PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO BE MORE STRATIFORM IN NATURE AS
OPPOSED TO CONVECTIVE MEANING A MORE LONG, SOAKING RAIN VERSUS
BRIEF, HEAVY RAIN. EVEN SO, RECENT BURN SCARS WILL STILL BE PRONE
TO FLASH FLOODING WITH MINIMAL AMOUNTS OF RAIN, ESPECIALLY THE
416, BURRO, AND BULL DRAW FIRE BURN SCARS.
DIFFERENCES STILL EXIST BETWEEN FORECAST MODELS, ESPECIALLY IN
REGARDS TO TIMING AND PRECIPITATION AMOUNTS. ANY SIGNIFICANT
CHANGES TO THE FORECAST TRACK OF ROSA'S REMNANTS, ESPECIALLY
WESTWARD, COULD LOWER EXPECTED PRECIPITATION AMOUNTS DRAMATICALLY.
PLEASE STAY TUNED TO THE LATEST FORECAST ON THE EVOLUTION OF THIS
UPCOMING RAINFALL EVENT.

It typically takes a catastrophic rain event to end an extreme drought like this... so bring it the fuck on.

Trestle Bike Park has preemptively declared their season over based on the forecast. What am I supposed to do with this remaining ticket I bought? Gotta get a refund... really wanted to ride Trestle next weekend.

It's moisture dammit. May be a fairly decent amount. Drizzling since 2p in Eagle Co.

Re: Trestle
Trestle's closing doesn't coincide with any events at Winter Park Resort, but the park does offer bonus weekend hours from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 5 – 7.
Just like winter, they game the season based on what works for them. I have heard that they are pretty behind with all the improvements and shutting the base area will be helpful. Who knows in reality, I haven't talked to my bike patrol buddies in a while.

I was at copper this weekend and they don't have any chairlifts at the base area
both lifts are gone and being rebuilt
i'm sure they will get them done by opening day, but......
imagine getting tons of snow day after day all of october that would be a huge dent in their schedule
and these stupid ass bubble chairs? WTF? the lids self close
is this what guests really want? to be outside but not really outside because it's cold out, is that what we have come to?

LL, WP, Abasin, and Copper all have chairs going in. Would be funny if an massive storm came in and delayed them all. At least Abasin's isn't a base lift. I believe they all have the towers in though so stringing the cable and putting on the final touches is all that's left I would assume.
Agreed on the bubble chairs. Sofa-king dumb. But speeding up both of the base lifts in the main area at Copper should be pretty sweet for reducing crowds generated by the Ikon shitshow.

Loveland’s towers are in, cable and chairs are hung. Should be fine assuming testing goes per normal.
Coppers would be the biggest worry since they tend to open early and rely on a chair that is still without towers.

It always seems like work never really gets going on new lifts until September, which has always baffled me. Maybe there is a ton of prep work that happens in june/july/august that I am unaware of.
It may make sense on the east coast but Colorado can get big snow in September and October. Seems like they always cut it pretty close.

they self close? NO! and the other chair is a chondola, not sure how i feel about that yet. i mean it is fine in telluride but like there is way less crowds there.
no towers yet either yikes. 2 lifts in one summer seemed ambitions for copper, no wonder they got rid of G Rodgers

Bubbles can be nice if the wind is howling but mandatory closure is silly. Are they too heavy for most people to self operate?
And the weather app is changing the forecast every couple of hours. Going to be an interesting week.

It's strange - there used to be a *number* of chairs in Colorado that had those stupid bubbles... and most resorts got rid of them.
You suppose they are better now or something?
