I don't think elevation matters, actually. First leaves to turn around here are often closer to Gunnison. The East side of Monarch started way before the leaves here...

It's much more than elevation. I'm guessing that other factors are how far north or south, what aspect, local weather, and maybe even the particulars of that organism. I suspect that temperature (which of course is influenced by elevation) is much more determinative than the elevation itself.

i'll bet money that the leaves will fall off the trees three quarters of the way through the year

I'd like it entered into the record, Your Honor, that at no time did I claim that elevation was the only factor in aspens turning.

I just said that elevation matters.

    Which it does.

    Buncha argumentative fucks.

Everyone knows the only aspens worth seeing are on Kenoshah Pass.

Anyway, back to the weather. It's pretty out there. Pretty much peaking on the fall colors.

We are not going back to weather so long as someone on the internet is wrong! I will argue until you agree that IPAs are not made of Satan’s taint sweat but of angle pee. There is no better liquid to be consumed, for god has forsaken us with this beautiful nectar.

Agreed on sours though, sour butt hole sweat is a good descriptor.

The shit show that is Kenosha pass was in full swing at 8:30 this morning. At the opposite end of the spectrum, Weston pass was a ghost town. Had the road completely to ourselves all the way. Best color of the entire drive.

Judging by the drive I just did over kebler, I'd say that exactly everyone is in fact in CB right now. Made the 4th look mellow.

I could tell a story about an october many years ago and how it was so hot and sunny and dry every day and then one day it wasn't for like six months

No. Been getting frost most mornings, but then it's roasting by afternoon.

makes for good biking in the early morning around 7-8am. Dirt is cold enough to almost feel tacky.

Roasting is relative, high of 71 today.

It can feel hot climbing up to the Gondi with a full face and pads.

I do my big climbs early with my dog and then hit the lift served.

Was up on a hike to Lake Anne off the Huron peak trailhead to do some fishing and escape the heat (weekend before last). Leaves were on fire and noticably more orange on the way down. This cold weather pushing in is finally getting the blood flowing. Dear Gob we better have some snow this season.Click image for larger version.

Yes, that's the newly opened bottom of the French Press flow trail. This is the last weekend of lift served, but you can actually shuttle much of it anytime.
