We rode around Steamboat this weekend. Flash of Gold was as expected, gold AF. Emerald was pretty nice too.

Thanks - it was tougher than expected, but a good type A "fun" ride. The Radavist rode the ride with us, some great content and full photo gallery on the sidebar.

You came to Colorado to ride dirt roads on overloaded touring bikes?

I always think about bike packing but then realize how hard it would be to take enough beer to drink for multiple nights then I give up and think about just doing 20-30 miles single day rides that end somewhere near a bar or truck with a cooler.

HA! I know....but the ride was sponsored by New Belgium, so in theory you could drinks as much as you wanted each day. I had visions of drinking and eating my entry fee in the 3 days. I was so tired that I might have drank 12 total.

This - bikepacking to me seems like a *REALLY* good way to make mountain biking not-fun.

I'll take Fat Tire all day long over the over-hopped abominations known as IPA's that the sheeple are into these days.

You can dislike IPAs and still agree that Fat Tire is probably made from sweat off Satan's nutsack.

Pretty sure beer made from the sweat off Satan's nutsack it would actually be better than Fat Tire.

Also better than an IPA, thanks to the specially lined can

Anyway, back to the weather. It's pretty out there. Pretty much peaking on the fall colors.

Fat Tire is perfectly average. Lots of better examples of Amber Ales out there for sure, but it's ok.

IPA's, on the other hand, definitely derive from sweaty nutsacks, taints, and buttholes. Although the latest sheeple trend of sours is even worse...

No argument from me. Like putting fruit or veg into beers - that shit ain't even "beer"...

I'm sure you've been over Kebler Pass... but on the west side, it's not even close to peak. Probably another 1-2 weeks, in fact. Around the Vail Valley it's damn close, but this weather is going to help it last for a while.

For sure. But close to town, Gothic, etc- it's peaking. Kebler is always later
