TR: Stowe EC Storm + a District review

All of these photos are from the last 4 days at Stowe. We've been filthy filthy photo sluts and got lots of photos, but these are some of the best.
The captions will tell the story, but these are in no great order.

    Allenataylor

    backcountryben on the same drop

    and once more with soul_skier

pre-big storm shot, enjoying the snow we already had

soul_skier trying to buckle his boots mid air

    soul_skier having an awful day

me just before i panicked when i saw ice in the landing from 15 feet up

me trying to hold a fart in

i really really wish this shot was in focus- a big photoslutting hip check

best picture of me yet this year - i landed on a tree - but i stomped it

All the previous photos were before the new snow, all the following ones were from the last two days.

biggest huck of the year so far for me, yeah thats some gaper steeze in the air, but i was too far forward on the takeoff and was rowing the boat pretty hard. That fullface is new, and paid for itself on that cliff when i felt a big knee-to-chin bar.

backcountryben on the same cliff, if you look at the landing you'll notice that he had about a 2 foot wide strip of non-bombed snow to land in.

soul_skier coming off the waterfall - and about to regret it

allenataylor on then new districts today

allens friend chris on his new fish

    backcountryben

allen about to head under the tree

allen hitting a small drop on the bluehouse

    wheres allen?

i'm still having a hard time seeing him

    backcountryben in the new pow

me ducking under the downed tree, and loving the new skis

wow i can hardly see its so deep

allen getting ready to stab a snow-snake

just wow, it was so great today (me)

    allen with the woods steeze

all in all an amazing 4 days of skiing. There were small hucks, big hucks, low pow, deep pow, ice, and some very good times with good friends. it was what skiing is all about.

Bluehouses v. '05 Atomic Big daddies = wow the bluehouses are my new favorite ski, they are so fun. i dont really have the words for it, but they were very light poppy, floated well and responded immediately. By the time i thought about something the skis were already doing it, and providing ample face shots in the process. The bluehouse are a great chillin ski, i would never try and slay a huge open bowl on them or huck huge, but they are a beautiful experience on soft snow. I spent today on the districts w/Freerides and Scarpa Denali XT's, yesterday i spent the whole day on Big Daddies w/914's and Krypton Pro's. They are both pow skis but are so different. the big daddies hate to turn, require a huge strength input and a lot of attention and manual control. They huck like no other and are amazingly comfortable at speed but not so fun for just bouncing around in the trees, the bluehouse are the exact oposite. tight trees are a joy, so are small hucks, i'm sure touring will be as well. High speed in chop they get pretty scary though.

in summary the Big Daddies dominate, subjugate, and destroy powder, the bluehouse's make sweet sweet love to it. I want to listen to death metal or gangster rap when i'm on the Big Daddies, i want to listen to bob marley or the postal service on the bluehouse. I consider them a great investment and they make low key, non hucking days a blast (i busted them out today because i have huck neck so bad from the other day that i cant turn my head)

    Thanks for looking!

    ps. Day 23!

[gloat] suck on that Tahoe! /[gloat]

STOKED for you guys. Payback for the past few seasons I guess.

Very sick shots of amazing early season storm skiing. They kind of make me miss it over there just a little, I recognize most of those hits. Careful hating on Tahoe though, they'll get like 20 ft when its 60 deg here in January.

yeah we didn't have to go far at all to find untouched drops, it was a nice change up from last year.

no real hate for tahoe at all. you guys are always getting nuked while we get rain, i just figured i'd take the shot when i saw the opening. i'm sure you'll have ample opportunity to return the punch.

Very nice pictures guys! It has been a good four days or so huh?

At least someone slowed down enough during all the pow to take pics. Way to get after it!!!
