Gonna get POUNDED west of Denver!
It's coming.
20-30 inches in the foothills.
Loveland/Abasin should get similar. Gonna get some tree snappage in Denver Thursday night! Bring it on."Oh yeah...and she gave me her number too!"

Maybe, Saturday will be Loveland, Sunday's plans are still up in the air. We'll have to check with my activities coordinator (paging Pinner)."All God does is watch us and kill us when we get boring. We must never, ever be boring."

The only activity I'm coordinating for Telenater is airport service! The rest is all minute-by-minute.
Berthoud could be very good on Sunday. Though if I'm the hangover muppet I expect I'll be that day, I might not be much fun to have along.
As a contingency plan, as long as Phoggy can have you back to the city by about 6 or 7, you should be in good shape for that Sun evening flight.

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DENVER CO
250 AM MDT WED APR 21 2004
.SHORT TERM...QUITE A BIT OF MID LVL MOISTURE WILL MOVE ACROSS THE
AREA TODAY IN WLY FLOW ALOFT WITH FAIRLY DECENT LAPSE RATES.
GRIDDED DATA SHOWS INCREASING MID LVL QG ASCENT BY AFTN THROUGH
TONIGHT WHICH WILL HELP GENERATE PCPN IN THE MTNS AND EVENTUALLY
OVER THE NERN PLAINS. SNOW AMOUNTS IN THE MTNS SHOULD STAY ON THE
LIGHT SIDE AS OROGRAPHIC COMPONENT IS FAIRLY WEAK ALTHOUGH IF
SOME CONVECTION DEVELOPS THIS AFTN A FEW SPOTS MAY SEE SOME ENHANCED
AMOUNTS. OVER THE NERN PLAINS MAY SEE SOME SCT SHOWERS DEVELOP BY
AFTN WITH AN ISOLD TSTM POSSIBLE. TEMPS TODAY OVER THE NERN PLAINS
BASED ON READINGS IN THE 850-700 MB LAYER SHOULD BE IN THE 55-60
RANGE. FOR TONIGHT STILL WILL HAVE A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF MID LVL
MOISTURE OVR AREA AND FAVORABLE MID LVL QG ASCENT SO STILL SHOULD
SEE SOME LIGHT SNOW SHOWERS IN THE MTNS. OVER LOWER ELEVATIONS
DEEPER LOW LVL MOISTURE IS FCST TO EVENTUALLY ADVECT INTO AREA FM
THE SE AS LOW LVL FLOW INCREASES FM THE ESE. LATEST MESO-ETA SHOWS
QUITE A BIT OF PCPN OVERNIGHT ESPECIALLY EAST OF THE FRONT RANGE
URBAN CORRIDOR AS SOME TYPE OF LOW LVL CONVERGENCE AXIS DVLPS OVER
THE NERN PLAINS.
.LONG TERM DISCUSSION...MODELS ARE COMING AROUND TO A SHOWING A
SIGNIFICANT PRECIPITATION EVENT FOR THE FORECAST AREA THAT RUNS
THURSDAY...THURSDAY NIGHT...AND FRIDAY. THE ETA IS STILL A BIT
NORTH OF THE AVN CONCERNING THE UPPER CLOSED LOW...HOWEVER IT IS
LOOKING MORE AND MORE LIKE THE AVN SOLUTION. ON THURSDAY...THE
DIV-Q GRIDS SHOW DECENT SYNOPTIC SCALE FORCING OVER THE FORECAST
AREA WITH THE UPPER LOW APPROACHING. THIS ASCENT IS PROGGED TO
CONTINUE THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING. PRESSURE AND WIND FIELDS SHOW A
PRETTY STRONG SURFACE CYCLONE DEVELOPING BY THURSDAY AFTERNOON THEN
CONTINUING IN A FAVORABLE LOCATION FOR SIGNIFICANT UPSLOPE FLOW AND
PRECIPITATION EVENT FOR NORTHEAST COLORADO WELL INTO FRIDAY. GOOD
ANTICYCLONIC UPSLOPE WITH A SURGE OF COOLER AIR COMES IN THURSDAY
AFTERNOON. CROSS SECTIONS FROM BOTH MODELS SHOW SIGNIFICANT DEEP
UPSLOPE AND MOISTURE FROM THURSDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH FRIDAY
EVENING. THURSDAY AFTERNOON DOES SHOW SOME POTENTIAL INSTABILITY
AND FAIRLY STEEP LAPSE RATES ALONG WITH LIMITED CAPE OVER THE PLAINS
THROUGH ABOUT 21Z. ONE BIG QUESTION IS WHEN THE PRECIPITATION
CHANGES OVER TO SNOW OVER OUR VARIOUS ELEVATIONS. WET BULB ZERO
HEIGHTS OFF OF THE FORECAST SOUNDINGS SHOW SNOW STARTING OVER THE
PLAINS ABOVE 5000 FEET FROM THURSDAY MID AFTERNOON TO EARLY
EVENING. THE FOOTHILLS APPEAR COLD ENOUGH TO BE SNOWING ALL DAY
THURSDAY...HOWEVER THE EASTERLY UPSLOPE DOESN'T GET INTO THESE AREAS
UNTIL THURSDAY EVENING. ON THE OTHER HAND...THE QPF GRIDS SHOW SNOW
OVER MOST OF THE PLAINS ALL DAY THURSDAY THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING. BY
06Z FRIDAY NIGHT...THE ETA MODEL RUN SNOW ACCUMULATION GRID SHOWS 20
PLUS INCHES OF SNOW FOR MUCH OVER THE DENVER METRO AREA AND THE
PALMER RIDGE. THE SAME PRODUCT AND TIME FRAME FROM THE AVN SHOWS
SIMILAR VALUES...BUT GOES UP TO 30 INCHES FOR THE PALMER RIDGE. I
WILL LEAN MORE ON THE SOUNDINGS AND INTRODUCE SNOW LATER
THURSDAY/THURSDAY EVENING FOR THE PLAINS. AS FAR AS HIGHLIGHTS GO
...IT'S BIT EARLY YET CONSIDERING IT WOULD BE FOR THE FOURTH AND
FIFTH PERIODS. HOWEVER A WATCH FOR AT LEAST THE FOOTHILLS FOR
THURSDAY NIGHT INTO FRIDAY WILL LIKELY BE A GOOD CALL FOR THE DAY
SHIFT TO CONSIDER. THE MOUNTAINS RECEIVE GOOD EASTERLY UPSLOPE BY
FRIDAY MORNING...SO WILL LEAVE HIGHLIGHTS ALONE FOR THERE FOR NOW."Oh yeah...and she gave me her number too!"

Well then, lets hope the ETA MODEL RUN is right. 20" in Metro and more to the west!!!
Can we get Red Barron to look at the models as well?

I think we'll get maybe a foot in the tech center where the elevation is higher and more like 6-8 inches in metro Denver. But foothills should be nice!

Any and all interested, I'll be at the Loveland (corn)/Powder Harvest (fund raiser for the CAIC) on Sat. Lets chat then about plans for Sunday. I'll want to be with experienced CO snow pack people as I'm a dumb Californian who doesn't know jack about the CO snow pack excep that it's dangerous. Left to my own devices I'd be skiing 5 degree slopes in the trees.
For descriptive purposes, I'll be on tele skis, wearing a full face helmet, and a powder blue jacket. If that description isn't good enough, just look for the black full face with a tahoe summit sticker on it."if the city is visibly one of humankind's greatest achievements, its uncontrolled evolution also can lead to desecration of both nature and the human spirit."

Blah...Blah...Blah...We'll see you out on the town with Pinner Friday night? MD9, Crinkle, Hev and I are going to the baseball game so the bars might be in order. We'll stay in touch through Pins.
Oh, yeah, and I just realized that I left my probe in Tahoe (got beacon and shovel though). Anyone have an extra I could borrow if a bc day materializes?"if the city is visibly one of humankind's greatest achievements, its uncontrolled evolution also can lead to desecration of both nature and the human spirit."

Bars after the rockies game sounds good. I could use a drink. I may have a probe that could work if needed. The term "probe" is used loosely.
