Anyway to "stetch" a boot liner?

    hey guys,

I got a slight expansion in the toe box area of my ski boots.

This did no real good though, because I still have the same pressure point here as I did before.

I talked to the shop owner, and he said ski on them for 10 days, and the liner will "stetch" out. this makes sense,

but is there anyway I dont have to wait this long? can i just get plyers and stretch the liner out? or is there a science behind this that I am not aware of?

You can stretch liners with reasonable results depending on the material on the toe of the liner. The newer liners often have polypro material on the toe, the old ones tend to have just a small peice of some non stretchy stuff with little padding. But pliers are not the way. You will rip your liner and even if you dont, wont get an accurate or sucessful stretch. If you wanna do this, take em to back to the shop and have them put a hydraulic in there with toe and heel peices just like they would when stretching a shell. Have them leave in over night or more. Thing is....it wont do that much. Most liner expansion comes, as your dude said, with compression of the material behind your heel. If you are in a rush, ask him to grind the toebox a little also to give you maximum volume. If all this has been tried and you have skied for a week or more and you stil have similar fit problems, you may have a shellsize to small.

If the toe is some kind of heatfit material, you can accelerate the process by using a heat gun on your boot while wearing it. Stop when you can feel the heat through the boot. This worked pretty well for me.
