my personal favorite is foo fighters - the colour and the shape. Although it probably isn't one of the best ever. The whole cd really flows well together and after hearing it a million times I still can't get tired of listening to it all the way through.

You people have some crappy tastes in music.

"Paul's Boutique" is the only thing worthy mentioned so far.

"Apetite" maybe too, even though I don't listen to it. But it doesn't match Ice's 15-years criteria.

Iceman - First off, Zep is my favorite band, ever (next to Elvis Costello). But, important to know: I drive 5 hours each way, every week, to Mammoth - so I have a good idea of what albums (er... cd's) are great all the way through, or have re-listenability. Old standbys include Who's Next and Mitchell's Blue, etc.

From the last 15 years, a couple were listed already:

    Beasties: Paul's Boutique
Radiohead : OK Computer, but I would add, and say is BETTER, The Bends
    Dandy Warhols: both albums (cds)
Fiona Apple: (yep, you heard me) both
The Doves: both, again. (lost souls, last broadcast)
    Coldplay: both.
Jonatha Brooke and the Story: Plumb
    Liz Phair: Exile in Guyville
    Peter Gabriel: Us, So
Seal: #1 and #2 (should be on that other board's poll re: seducing a woman)
U2: Joshua Tree, and some other cds are arguably great
    The Verve: Urban Hymns
    White Stripes: both
    Zero 7: Simple Things
Pete Yorn: Music for the Morning After (if you don't know this one, get it right away).
Jeff Buckley: Grace. My all time favorite album, period.

and I'd vote for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs (Fever to Tell) as almost an inch from being on this list....

Great thread, by the way --

Every U2 song is exactly the same. If Edge did something besides the reverberating strum, I might give 'em some credit.

    Coldplay is a good suggestion.
Remind me. We'll send him a red cap and a Speedo.

    Nas- Illmatic

    Radiohead- OK Computer, The Bends

    Pavement- Slanted and Enchanted

Violent Femmes- Violent Femmes (all right, it came out in 1982. But kids'll be rocking this shit forever).

Beck- Midnite Vultures, Odelay, Mutations...One of them, probably Midnite Vultures. Unless it's Odelay.

Minutemen- Double Nickels on the Dime (all right, it came out in 1984. "15" is sort of an arbitrary number).

That's all for now, I have to finish doing my taxes.

I'll buy that one, but I was trying to focus the topic on rock music. John Lee, Van, and Carlos, you can't go too far wrong.

It's been said many times in this thread, but the "classics" from this past decade won't really be apparent for another 10 years or so. However, I agree with you ice, there's not as many quality albums and music being produced nowadays.

Well, thank you all for participating, and I think if you check you'll find that there's been no negative bullshit posted on the board for several hours now.

Your music taste still sucks, everyone, but good work just the same.

I'm going to keep this short since I'm running late for a date with drunkeness. I'll be back later to post some bands. But the big problem here isn't whether or not some great albums have been released in the last 15 years, but whether some great albums have been promoted in the last 15 years. I'd say that hasn't happened by and large. I own about 1000 cds and a large portion of them were released in that time frame. Working in an mom and pop record store and having a kickass local college station helped me discover a lot of this stuff.

Nah, actually a lot of good tunes mentioned. Just trying to change the focus a bit.

Pixies rule, Gonzo. Or whoever it was.

I dunno. They did do a kickass cover of "Indian Reservation (The Lament of the Cherokee Reservation Indian)."*

I've always preferred "Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves."
