The way I look at it this is a board made up of people who ski, not just skiing itself. There is a difference.
That said, please do not stop the TRs, stoke photos, quiver reports coming! For an EC gal who's frequently ski-deprived...this is what really keeps me coming back.
Folks, bear in mind though that with the advent of warmer weather we are going to see more and more non-skiing discussions erupting to pass the time until...well, we can ski again!
Wait until June, things will get really whacked (yes, more than usual) around here. BobMc will post another epic question to get us going in the right direction I'm sure. But I don't think anything will beat "Ever shaved your package?"

But that just brings up the question - Has Ashcroft ever shaved his package? And did Bush know about it and when did he know? If he knew it was imminent, did he tell Janet Reno?

Doood, take a moment and think about what you just wrote here.
I basically gave up on the political discussions in here long ago. Given the overwhelmingly disproportionate number of lefties, there's really nothing constructive that comes from any of these threads. Just more of the same. Yeah, yeah, yeah - we know you think GWB's an idiot. Yadayadayada. There's really very little resembling debate, though there are a couple in here that genuinely do enjoy political discussion. Some are capable of it, though few & far between. It usually results in little more than a flamewar.
I look at just about EVERY post made, I don't exclude post because of the author. I must admit, these tend to amuse me as well, however - WE GET THE POINT. You don't like GWB, or anyone associated with his Administration, the Forest Service or Haliburton. For the love of God, we understand. My point was that for all the griping everyone (see? no names.) does, you can simply change everything by voting in November. Right? Right?

Odin, what exactly is it that you don't understand? Oh, you must have forgotten to smoke crack before you read it.

EPSkis, your point is taken, and I must agree to an extent in that some topics get old- noticed the paucity of USC football posts by me? However, unless someone's been singled out, we're better off ignoring those threads we no longer care for than caviling on about them. This isn't an issue anyone here ought to get pissed about.

even though KQ and I disagree, sometimes respectfully, sometimes not. who is to say what should be posted or talked about in the thread. it gives us a place to talk about anything. There aren't many political discussions to engage in with people my age in Summit County, so this is a good release. besides who wants to go out and talk about this stuff.

I think the political posts are a good thing. (You should have labeled this one as such, but whatever...). Other than that, if you don't like it, don't read it. If the political posts have to go, so do the porn posts, and the relationship posts, and the job/unemployment posts.... I don't have a problem with any of them, but off topic is off topic. And I think the fact that we're allowed to stray from skiing topics makes this a better place.
I don't read the political posts all the time, but when I do, I usually find them interesting and at least thought-provoking if nothing else. And I think that's a good thing."Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, "Wow, what a Ride!"

I'll second that AG!
I don't think it's cool to single people out and bash them simply because of the subjects about which they post. There are plenty of subjects that I think are silly, inane, or overdone--and I don't care!
Those who choose to get involved in political discussions (or porn, sheep, drug, car, or beating a dead horse discussions) can post away.
Those who want to talk mostly about skiing can do so if they choose. It's really quite simple. Post where you want. Ignore those threads that don't interest you.

"Don't like it, don't read it."
That's fair enough, but you get a bunch of Off Topic posts like this one, and you bump skiing related posts off the first page where 99% of the people hang out.
Ripped from my rant in truth's latest news story copy & paste thread:
The following ski-related threads are now on the 2nd page: Back to the stoke now, La Grave TR, Progression, Alta closing day roll call, PBR goggle giveaway, Alpental closing day roll call, Longoni skis wtf, April dump in Kirkwood.
So... which would you guys rather see? Off topic posts, or some of the on-topic posts I just listed?
