I had my 186 Lhasas mounted with NTN 1 cm back from the alpine boot center (middle position). I think they ski fine there, so haven't experimented with moving the binding to the front or rear...

Never did it myself - although my BD skins look like they might need a workover.

I'd go with the Sigma 30mm/1.4 over the 50/1.8 - more versatile, however it costs a bit more.
