To followup on the broken crank arm....should I be worried enough about this frame damage that I stop riding it or think simplying buying a new arm isn't the best move? Fwiw, the gash by the crank...

Doubt it tells us anything but the crank arm had dislodged from the spindle once before so this was a replacement crank. That said, I'd been riding on the new one for a while

Would that crank breaking in half make you any more hesitant to trust adding the same part right back on the bike? Or the bike in general?

So how often this does happen? I want to say these are Deore XT, maybe a higher level

Happened on a simple curb jump in an open lot so I assume it was already failing....lucky...
