Just rent one of hundreds private apartments offered in Zermatt via online booking. The prices are decent for those. Don’t go to any fancy hotels as they are hopelessly overpriced.

Funny thing though comparing Zermatt to places like Andermatt oder Disentis. Zermatt has like 5x bigger terrain (not even counting the south facing Italian side) and almost 1000 m vertical more. And...
