They would need to have a very similar fit primarily around the ankle and instep to have a good fit in both boots without heating/adding/subtracting cork when switching boots.

If you play around with where you're applying...
If you play around with where you're applying pressure in a turn, you should be able to get them to pivot and release quite easily in soft snow. I find them to be a dream in tight trees.

I own 116 BGs and Jeffreys, the J116s give up a little bit of the looseness and wack snow capabilities of BGs but they're pretty damn close. The Js are definitely more well rounded.
