I wouldn't say it pries my foot forward, but the toe definitely jams the front when I flex the boot back. Flexing forward in ski mode pulls the toe off the front.

Yeah, the old RS was pretty equivalent to a Mercury. Nowhere near as stiff as a Vulcan. Much more progressive, though.
