In general there's little or no snow below 7800' in South Tahoe. As a fellow jong who prefers to skin from the car, I've been skiing Carson Pass; Luther might go, not sure about Echo.

I ski camped at Leavitt Lake once a few years ago; parked in the rough parking lot at the turnoff, and the car was still there upon return.
