Heading up tomorrow post day care drop off. @clownshoe what’s your ETA for whis alpine cracking?
Anyone tour over to bcomb glacier? How’s that looking?
Gasex seems like a great idea to me but I’m guessing you’d still need patrol to go and inspect everything anyways so maybe not a huge time saver?
I’m surprised vail doesn’t charge more for passes....
I feel like everything gets tracked faster than even 5 years ago
Yeah my best days on peak have been when it opens after noon in a whiteout. A storm always thins the crowds. I always hope for bluebird when I’m the backcountry and storms at the resort
One thing that I think would do a lot to settle crowds is if there was some way to notify people of what patrol was doing before opening a lift. I think most people see peak chair spinning and see...
Thank you clownshoe and the rest of patrol!
Can’t do early starts with kiddos now, so pulled up to creekside at 10. Whistler ops Twitter and sign in front of parkade said parking was full. Found...

Yesterday off peak chair was pretty good. On lower angle stuff you didn’t feel the crust. Total lack of vis in whis bowl kept crowds away
I’m pretty impressed that the alpine on both mtns was open by 11. I was expecting much worse
I was actually pleasantly surprised today. Got in the bcomb gondy line at portobello’s at 830. Thought it would take an hour from there. Took 40 min. Got couple jersey laps in while ppl started...
Thanks for the detailed response cs! I know about the standard bc access routes which are clearly posted on the wb site, it’s just touring in closed resort terrain that I always seem to get wrong....
I feel like I ask this every early season but is there any way to find out what uphill routes / resort terrain will be open for touring the night before or in the morning before opening? I would have...
This happened because I signed my kid up for whistler kids and committed to riding whis for 10 peak season Saturdays. You’re welcome
are you allowed to ride in the 7th area? or skin up 7th ridge from top of jersey and access the glacier that way?
are you always allowed to skin to the top of showcase t bar to access the glacier? or into the 7th area from bottom of showcase? i'm never clear where/when you're allowed to go early and late season...
Amazing Maximus. I try and do slalok once a season but haven’t been able to yet this season. Hoping it stays cold for another week or so
Thx Maximus and Norton. Glad I went up. Did a couple glacier laps, husume, and a quick lap down from the east col. all pretty sick
How was it up there today? Thinking of coming up tomorrow with the split to get up to the glacier. Worth it? Is there any way to tell which if any of the alpine lifts will open in advance? I thought...
yeah this was anywhere from 5-10 years ago, exactly when i couldn't say. also stoked to ride till the end of may. love driving up and back in shorts and flipflops
I remember only jersey and 7th open during the week but glacier and t bar open on weekends. They definitely never used to close them for the season after whis closed.
Aw yeah. And 10 am opening means I can get to first chair even after dropping off the kiddo
underwhelming. pretty wind affected
I trusted you man
where was the freezing level today? clownshoe, probability of peak opening tomorrow?
Made the mistake of venturing off piste into Whistler bowl. Figured by noon it might have softened up. I pretty much side slipped right down to highway 86. Was the first time I’ve felt chatter in my...
Ya prices have gone up since then. I did a guided catered trip to icefall back in 2016 for $2200. And now they’re charging $2700-3000. Sorcerer seems to be at the upper end of the range. Totally...
Yes she was. She was great!
USD or CAD? if CAD, i want to know how to get that deal. i paid $3600 CAD
sweet teamdirt. the N face is sometimes done as a tour from the hut. i think mike said the S face hasn't been skied as part of the lodge program. didn't look crazy gnarly when we had a look at it....
we were told it happens but not very often. in addition to weather and stability lining up, i think you probably also need the right group. there were a bunch of gnarly lines in view of the hut that...
Sick. We were in the week after you. What a spot. The Selkirks are the best. TR here

Our last lap of the trip was my fave - a sustained 500m pitch called Critical Thursday
Mandatory just the tip shot of the trip

The next pitch was decent too

We then headed to Black Russian...
The plan for the next day was to poke further into the alpine into a SE-facing zone named after various scotches, but weather rolled in and put us in the ping pong ball. Our first run down from the...

Sorcerer Lodge consistently gets mentioned as a must visit hut in BC, so back in 2018, some friends and I booked a trip for Mar. 2020 (such was the waitlist at the...
this thread is awesome. 82 and shredding - we should all be so lucky
Aww yeah! Thx clownshoe!
Probability of alpine opening tomorrow?
Lapped lower insanity the entire morning walking onto creekside gondy. So good. Better than the peak laps in the afternoon
what a great day. whis alpine didn't open till midday but worth the wait. late opening and zero vis seemed to keep the peak lines fairly short. wind made it not feel like 80cm since it last opened...
Thx clownshoe! Staffing seems to be an issue everywhere these days. Grouse took a couple hrs to open their measley amount of decent terrain this morning and was told by patrol short staff was the...
Whis gurus what are the chances of whis alpine opening tomorrow?
It was sick up there today! Got to black comb gondola at 8. Waited maybe a half an hour. Fun accelerator laps while everyone waited for jersey. Then tree laps on Crystal and 7th. Funny how Crystal...
great on the runs. a couple feet of north shore cement pads the sharks nicely. get it while you can, looks like it'll get washed away this weekend
Cypress was decent today 391953
What's the policy on touring on resort? I seem to remember last spring it was allowed initially then got shut down
That's what I was thinking. Not sure what the alternative is though. I guess dig out a spot at Joffre or walk back to your car?
Nice timing! Best run on the south coast imo. Where did you park with Joffre closed? At cerise then climb back up the matier to exit?
yesterday was pretty incredible. couple cm of new snow so i was planning on a groomer/park day. i guess they severely underreported or wind filled things in, cause it was pretty deep in places!...
code to know whether to tone it back or shred it up? sorry, i missed the part where i said that. i think we're talking past each other here. i'll make this very simple: question: should these 2...
