there are a couple ways to add bulk without adding a ton of material. one thing you could do is prop up the bucktail with either a dubbing ball behind it or something like polar chenille. tying it...
Been messing around at the fly tying bench a bit lately. I'm headed to Africa in a couple weeks. It's not a fishing trip but I found out that the GT fishing is supposed to be really good in one of...
finally upgraded to a real vise. rotary makes things quite a bit easier. been breaking it in the past couple days.
klinkhammer emerger...
First batch of salt flies
Yup, that made a huge difference. Got some thin ones that flex and can be bent easily. Makes it so much easier to shape the head.

Biots for tails, simple grey dubbing teased out and a red bead has been working real well for me.
i don't have squat for bigger hopper and foam pattern stuff, kind of missed that part of the season last year and haven't had a need yet for anything like that. anyone have some good general patters...
I just took the WR streamer class with Matt. Highly recommend it. FishTech also offers beginners and intermediate tiers classes and they are pretty cheap. Falcons Lodge is definitely on my to-do...
Hadn't seen that one before, thanks TheFugitive. Here's my sloppy attempt:

didn't have black crystal flash so I sub'd some angel...
you had any luck with an emerger or adult midge patern? I couldn't get any interest the other day during a hatch on anything in my box.
I didn't realize that tying could be just as addictive (and more expensive) than the fishing itself. The GF got me a vise and starter kit for xmas and I've been spending a lot of time on it since...
