I work in hazard mitigation. I understand risk, hazard, vulnerability, etc. maybe I framed it wrong. My view is that it’s more about complacency than a tolerance.

Comfortable risk tolerance: would he have been comfortable with the risk he was taking knowing ahead of time that he’d trigger an avalanche and die? I didn’t know the guy (rip), but the answer (“NO”)...
