Steeples were a thinner core profile, and I think lighter weight glass. Standard base/edge.
Correct current Hybrid are tour core with stock base/edge. I skied a hybrid BG118 inbounds a ton 22-23...

Being independent has given us slow refinement, painfully limited production and an unnecessarily expensive product. We’d probably would have had a fully indemnified 2.0 equivalent 5+ years ago at...
Hopefully this pushes look to finally pull up their pants and just buyout CAST. Turn it into a cleaner, retail ready, and indemnified design.
Isn’t it basically just a tour version of the QST118 all the Salomon athletes have been skiing with blank graphics for a few years?
Wrenegade has significantly more capability to just point it down the hill and get you out of anything, so long as you have a place to point them. Wrenegades want to go faster than a Woodsman 110....
As mentioned, 06/07 on the right.
06/07-07/08 were the same skis IIRC. 187 XXL became available around January 2008. 08/09 the LP changed to 100 underfoot and that was the most lost in the sauce of...
Yeah, a 186 Goat is much closer to a 190 Wild Cat.
I know two couples who got married at Crystal. Both gave it high marks.
I currently tour on the woodsman 108, and have a few days on some demo resort build 108s. Both 186, mounted on the line, I?m 5?10? and currently over 220 lb.
It?s happiest in the fall line on...
Any idea if any shops will have early access to these? I would happily replace my aging yellow ZGPTs before volcano/spring/summer season.
Do you pull data from on hill testing too? Using strain and pressure sensors to measure boot deformation/flex while skiing? That would be some interesting stuff to look at.
Are you skiing this weekend?
Unfortunately Vail and co don’t like on mountain demos.
Why not narrower Jeffery?

Just some friends hanging out together
Interesting and I think could be promising. I am worried however about the effects of increased guided recreation in this area could have on the endangered Upland sandpiper’s mating cycle. Can you...
Grab an actual look 15/18 toe and see if you can get it to go high enough to release vertically. It won’t. Put in the softest spring you can. Doesn’t matter. Multidirectional, yes, vertical, no.
It moves upward to provide some elasticity but not enough travel to enable a true vertical release. It does enable release beyond just horizontal, but I think you’d be hard pressed to get anything...
Full carryover with what’s currently available. They rip. Skied the 191 yesterday in mixed storm conditions. It rips too, obviously a big ski, but if you have room to let them run they are phenomenal.
I believe the first Narrow Ass Snowboards were built at the request of some Mt Baker Ski Patrol folks.
Mervin moved the production out to the peninsula in the late 2000s if I remember correctly....
Can someone rename this to the custom pivot paint job thread since all the 24/25 stuff is well documented everywhere but here.
Leaving enumclaw by 7:15 on a powder day is way more sustainable than needing to be through by 6:00-6:30. It got to needing to leave seattle by 5:30 to get up there during the peak covid years.
To be fair to your co-worker, the vast majority of this season has sucked and not been enticing.
Altera vail have set the pricing where it’s worth it to buy if you are thinking you might ski 5-7...
The non tour lay up 193 made mountains small
If you’re trying to make the 192 BG ski more like the older 191s, move the mount back a cm rather than forward.
The foam injection ones? For me they were a clear upgrade over zipfits. Mold once, good to go. Better hold than the zipfit cork provides. Not knocking on Zipfits they are awesome, but came out to be...
It’s probably just a style mismatch unless the tune was changed by a third party shop.
Which size? Could just be the Jeffery is a better style match.
Got the Atomic XTD professional liners in my XT3 140s. Fucking great. Skis awesome. Skied a few days with some short tours out of the resort. Costs significantly less than zipfits and I won’t have to...
That’s where mine have been for the last 8 years. Allows you to drive the ski more.
What size boot are you again? If ~303mm you’re welcome to swap with me at Stevens some time.
1800 is a totally reasonable goal for an updated 186 Hustler 11 in the current Rustler mold. 1700 would make it extreme attractive. Hustle 10/9 can continue to serve as wimpy Rustlers for People who...
I want to say all of this is correct. But I get a little fuzzy in where the asym changeover happened.
2012/13 RES was also decently refined from the first iteration 191 in 2011/12. The Billy...
Ski good too
12/13 191 basically became a 189 around 2015 or so, largely to get it under the scary 190 number so people would buy it. This was done by basically cutting 2cm of twin tip off. 186 became a 184...
After skiing the 186 BGs today thought it was worth sharing for everyone here.
Current (23/24, 24/25) 186 BG is closer to the olde 189 (which was based off the 191) than the older 184/186. The 191...
Honestly neither the 100 or 110 have enough backbone if you’re a bigger skier or used to skiing on the front on the ski. They are fun and easy to ski if you keep the weight centered but honestly...
It was always tied to Stevens Pass snow forecast projections.
Interesting they are as stiff if not stiffer than the current ZGPT. If anything I’d say the current iteration is a bit too stiff and harsh for its primary use. Maybe it will be better with more...
Activity historically reserved as a niche pastime for the wealthy elite creates a niche product aimed at the wealthy elite; and Buster yells at clouds. This thread is phenomenal.
Sounds like it’s...
Sure, but ice is where the most sudden and severe loss of traction is. Studded tires work almost as well as non studded in soft snow, and the drop off on wet roads is pretty manageable. When the ice...
Depends on when they figure out how undersized it is and begin the expansion. But yeah, looks like they are just doing internal stuff right now.
Excited for this boot. How is the fit over the top of the foot? More instep room? Hopefully the screws to adjust the forward lean are made out of some harder steel this time.
If I was to buy one mid 90s ski today it would be the current rustler 9.
Stormrider 95 is awesome as well. The Rustler 9 is 95% of the ski but much cheaper. If the money isn’t an issue get the...
Taylor Swift is the new Caroline Gleich? Big for Taylor if true.
Most people chasing ankle and heel tightness/hold don’t have enough space in the right area around the heel/Achilles/ankle and end up compensating using foam to chase the ankle bones until the high...
I don’t believe there is much desire within K2 to bring these ski back. It sounds like it’s a more significant issue than finding some different epoxy.
Spending money to bring back a small market...
I was still working for a retailer when the shift first came out. Hundreds of people bought shifts for skis they weren’t immediately panning on touring with, but might later. Shit many got them for...
I have purchased both. The Costco ones are priced appropriately to their quality and suitability for skiing compared to the Lenz socks.
Having used various brands of heated socks and the thermic...
There is plenty of motivation to spend on R&D. The shift 1.0 didn’t develop itself out of thin air and was pretty revolutionary 5 years ago. It also put the Amer North America sales team’s kids...
Lack of elasticity in the heel remains the biggest issue IMO for resort use. Maybe someone smarter than me can explain why they couldn’t figure out how to have STH heel elasticity on it - but I doubt...
Salomon the last five years: “The Shift is fine, all our athletes ski it hard everyday without issue. Only issues are when it’s improperly set up.”
Salomon this year: “Look we fixed (most of) the...
