Yup, DJ is right on the money, as usual. I watched it happen in LCC too, locals and tourists alike that would never consider having an Alta or Bird pass on its own suddenly have 5/7 days to "check it...

Hole in the wall?! It's the hardest run on the mountain!
Things have gotten a bit busier in the last 20 years I think.
Texan spring break is no joke, be warned.
Times have changed. You could be interlodged next to the goods, or you could be sitting in traffic headed to BCC or Snowbasin, or skiing groomers in PC. I know what I'm picking.
That list is mostly (all?) Alterra owned/unlimited resorts though.
I was just saying skiing in SLC can be a pain logistically if you're used to bringing your dog along in the car during the day was all.
Skiing wise, you could go use a few of your brighton days....
SLC will also be a pain with a dog unless you board him during the day or find a place to stay down in the valley.
Yeah. Breck next weekend I think.
I'm just gonna buy my new touring setup now.
I'm hoping for less crowds here in the Wasatch next winter as well.
Lol
If you make it down to Utardia, first round at the tram club is on me.
I was talking about the weekend before, but I don't ski Saturdays. Yesterday wasn't terrible considering the snow was decent.
I might have to blackout in the tram line tomorrow if it gets much longer than last weekend.
Yup. And we have been seeing a ton of traffic from Tahoe locals as well because of their shitty winter. Meanwhile we can't even get a god damn discount at another Ikon hill. AND they dropped our...
The big difference in a weekend like last weekend in LCC is all the Ikon pass holders here from out of town that planned their vacations months ago. Before the Ikon pass most season pass holders are...
No lol. Just grumpy because I'm at work and conditions have been somewhat mediocre lately.
The management at Alta and Snowbird need to know how we feel. They are showing that they don't care about their season pass holders.
That was yesterday. And it wasn't LCC. Just saying.
Then maybe sit down on the lift, crack a cold one, and enjoy the journey?
JFC you must ski slow.
Also re that rock filled powder slope. At most real mountains, if you don't know where you are going and there aren't tracks, expect the unexpected.
No matter how high Dibs gets, he won't fall unloading the chair. I'll put my money on that.
Bird or Alta on their own are $1k if you buy it in like May. $1400 combined. Not even a discount at Ikon resorts, and a valley full of Ikon passholders. Oh well, weekday skiing is still pretty fun...
I'm so sick of explaining that to tourists on the lift here. People are shocked to find out my Snowbird only pass costs more than their Ikon pass.
You aren't wrong.
"No bad snow, only bad skiers"
To keep us on topic, other than traverse tracks everywhere, I find certain types of terrain the snow is staying better for longer this year,...
Right. There is a silver lining to mineral openings, but you'll have to figure that one out on your own.
If you go to the Bird on a weekend and don't come prepared to ski chop, I'm not sure what...
Yup!
Dude, lets go skiing without me chasing you uphill first!
Pretty sure Ikon days are Alta/Bird combined, so you can pass through the gates as you want.
And it is more than a novelty, particularly when certain terrain is open or when certain lifts open...
Shoot, compared to that the Snowaddict91 B+B will seem like a bargain!
JHyatt, what dates will you be here? Would be happy to show you guys around the Bird. If you are already staying in the...
Yeah I had no idea dorm beds were that kind of $$.
A 24-48hr interlodge is a pretty rare event, and I want to say there hasn't been one that long jn years. Yes the road can close, but if you are staying at the GMD and the road closes, as long as you...
Haha this is great, I actually went out for Mexican last night.
We should move to Montana?
I think I've posted this somewhere before, but last spring I was on the lift at Snowbird talking to someone from out of town. They went on to say that Snowbird "isn't even in the same league as...
A great experience traversing down the mountain.
I kid. Having an AltaBird pass last year was an incredible experience. Couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger this summer so I'll be over the...
Vibes for anyone going through that.
Well yeah but 7 days at DV, 7 days at Brighton, and unlimited at Solitude. All for the same price as an Alta or Bird only pass. 7 days is NOT enough LCC for me, which is why I'm staying at the Bird...
Similar things going down here in Utah. So many people that used to be Alta and/or Bird passholders jumping ship to Ikon, meanwhile no incentive is given to stay a passholder at either resort, no...
Damn. Cash in on the indy train and then a nice big fuck you to everyone that bought an A Basin pass this spring. Although we all saw this coming.
And you can bring a guest with you to cut all the lines.
Lol. Sounds like we should make some turns together at the Bird soon and maybe flip some birds benny's way.
Oh and also I'm from Ohio. There's a reason we all leave.
The irony here is I'm pretty sure boredtodeath is a snowboarder. And yeah, my snowboarder friends definitely aren't the ones clogging traverses 99% of the time.
Lots of anti-Ikon stickers popping up around the Bird, not as many at Alta it seems. And yeah, a 10% single year jump is yuge. The biggest difference I've seen at the Bird is there is frequently a 1...
Yep. Planning to pen letters to the Bird and Alta.
Yup. Although on the other hand a Jackson pass is ~1500 and they are already closed. Can't wait to tell everyone from Jackson to go home when they invade next April.
I heard a rumor that the...
Right, I'm planning to ask Alta and Snowbird GMs the same thing. I guess I can be bought.
It would be nice but I'm doubtful. Big Sky got no Ikon benefits for next year as far as I can tell. They actually reduced the Wasatch Benefit for next year from 6 days to 4.
Oh well, at least our...
Unless Snowbird announces it later nothing so far. Although our pass is around $500 less than JH so there's that I guess?
