Family wanted to share his last runs.
I agree wouldn't say they were off route at all. As he stacked tracks he just got closer and closer to the trigger point.
Huge Avalanche cycle happening in Summit right now. Trelease (remote) and Buffalo (possibly natural) both went huge this morning.
100 Dollar tickets for parking violations at the basin. WTF are we doing here.
We can always hope
a ski blader apparently
Go look at the chicken strip near bakers tank the west face of Bald might be some left or peak 9 and 10

Quandary Report. Seems pretty selfish to me if you didn't like how they were skiing it or taking too...
Reading CAIC reports today and what I saw in person this weekend was pretty wild out there even for summit county standards.
I thought this was basic backcountry etiquette if someone is already...
need to get a remake on the Legend is Burning stickers
monarch closed now too damn
Damn Basin is closed for the day
Hell yea that's great news!
Yes same here people in Summit are definitely stepping out into pretty serious terrain. Silver got hammered on Sunday
Yea they are hard! caught the "reopening" of slalom yesterday and it was much nicer to just traverse over to a freshly groomed griz road then ride the chunder.
wiggle has to be gone by now. looks like 9 to me
thank you!
where are you guys seeing $235 for a 4 day epic I am only seeing $383
WOW! im surprised his snowboard is still in one piece after going through that choke!
454811
Even south aspects were still holding good snow last night with the cool temps and steady breeze
Hot take......the 'skiers/riders' going the hardest on Gaper Day are the biggest gapers of all. I'm sure most of 'em had Ikon passes. :fm:
yup completely agree copper was empty! ikons...
Ullr the dog is still missing please keep an eye out if anyones in the area!
wolf creek is fully closed will open thursday damn!
very lame! just going to keep using last years they never check anyway
they go for the upper mountain first then go back to sundance might be different this year with the new len lift but i doubt it!
One year Patrol rigged the whole face with explosives and got the entire face to slide to the ground after they closed for the season. There is a video out there somewhere it was pretty impressive!
I think everyone is! problem is this PWL isn't buried anywhere deep enough to stop worrying about it unfortunately

Skier Triggered Wind Slab which sympathetically triggered a large persistent slab in the next bowl!

i dont know when the last time you saw the tuning forks but last Saturday they were looking pretty out of tune this year! the wind was not kind
Just to be clear I just pulled this photo off the CAIC not my photo or my group. No matter how you look at it or what you call it we are far from a spring snowpack is what I was getting at!
spooky moderate is an understatement seriously concerning out there!
More like a January Snowpack
Summit County 12K North Aspect everyone escaped without being caught
I agree especially with all the epic lift line hype
this will be interesting to see how fast they sell out of season passes! I have a feeling quite a few families will be moving towards the basin and away from the epic/ikonic shitshow
That guy is lucky to be alive. Luckily no rescue needed. I couldn't believe his luck speaking with him... one of the 3 luckiest avalanche survivors I've ever personally...
From Summit Rescue FB page
At about noon on Sunday, February 13th, we received a call for an avalanche on the west side of Loveland Pass with a confirmed skier burial. A mother and son on skis...
I definitely understood that it was Silver on Nez Perce just adding to the convo about popular lines and the ever crowding backcountry all over the west
Definitely a Conversation worth having. Last spring during a Storm Day we were one of the first groups up buffalo to ski the silver. After summiting and riding to the entrance there was now three...
Rocky where you would expect it but it was riding pretty good!
They usually try and get Zuma open first heard they got a big slide out of west zuma 16ft crown before this storm!
I bet zuma then steep gullies then they will start on the wall
patrol got first notch and north pole to slide to the ground last week so a foot on rocks!
Vail resorts?
This was a real test for the basin, snow and holiday crowds! rode the last 4 days there and wow lower lot didn't even fill up till yesterday, ride on the lift four days in row it felt weird is the...
"The lawsuit argues Backcountry Access should have been aware of “safer alternative designs,” such as a remote or automatic triggering or inflation system.
Another skier in Marshall’s group was...

Snowmobilers
5 months and you see the sun twice
Does not seem like they are offering it this year.
Heard rumors from basin employees of them selling out in the next week and half just heads up not sure how much I would trust that but better to be safe then sorry
Conditions from the San Juan's kept it mellow but saw quite a few folks getting after the steeper north facing lines
Sorry for the head tilting
