For those who have both the 194 and 186, how do you like having the two? Worth using as a quiver for low vis/high vis resort days?
Agree with the points above. I'll be skiing them again today.
Overall there is more volume, especially in the toe, as others have mentioned. Which means I have been skiing them stock vs. slight...
Couple days on them so far. Feel pretty good.
No hotspots yet, while with my Ultra XTDs I tried (and failed) to get the heel punched out.
My one gripe with the Alpha Boas is the lack of forward...
I have been told by CAST that this was a tolerance error from an early batch. I just bought new ones from the new production and I'll report back on fit soon!
EDIT: Tolerance error can sound bad,...
very curious about how these perform against the current crop of higher weight boots such as the Atomic XTD Ultra and Salomon Alpha Boa.
these have a more aggressive stance at 19* forward lean...
Can you explain more about how these might fit someone whose heel spurs didn't get along with the ultra's? This could be me. Overall, is the Salomon deeper in the heel pocket but equally low volume...
What did you switch to Altacoup? Want to sell me your 183 for the same deal?
All these comments vs. the stance - is this vs. the new (softer/lighter) stance or the OG heavier/stiffer stance? Mind elaborating on the stability, groomer/on edge performance, preferred skiing...
Asked the same question above... I mounted before knowing this information on mount point and so dropped in at +1.5 on my 189 which feels good, but I wonder if it would feel better back closer to the...
Using cast as a travel setup for the first time right now. It has been solid. If you are skiing a true 50/50 resort/BC, then I don't see a better option out there if you want to ride 1 ski and boot....
Sadly they said to mail them in. I can't do that as I'm off on a ski trip (the purpose of the Casts in the first place) so I was forced to get a new pair of pivots. I just dropped the new toes on and...
My QSTs have all had around a 2* side bevel, but they have been pretty uneven. not sure about base bevel.
Ok! We have more information.
I borrowed a friend's Cast 1.0 toes with the same purple/pink colour as Eluder (they were purchased ~1year after mine).
1. The purple toe pieces fit on the Cast...
Thank you Eluder - this is helpful because it shows effectively what I have done over here. Upon close inspection the Cast post/pedestal appears 1mm wider than my stock one. Can't do more tonight,...
Emailed Cast, though was going to ski these tomorrow so thought I'd post here first figuring I was completely missing something simple in the setup.
Trying again now, with or without the square...
Hi, I am having trouble getting the toes far down enough on the towers. These are the yellow/orange pivot 18 forzas. Any ideas?
The width of the tower prevents me from dropping down any lower. I...
Is there a preferred way to line up the brake lock/riser unit holes with an already mounted heel piece?
Anyone have experience with both the stock bootboards and shockstoppers? Love the concept, but unsure about real world effects and if it is worth ordering them.
To the top.
FYI got dinged for import fees with UPS shipping to canada...
Yea the fwd pressure is good. I think it could just be a case of soft plastic?
Bumping this, as I am interested in everyone's experiences with the 189 model and where they mounted.
I was looking on Sooth Ski and noticed that the 181 lengths had the rec line at a -9.4, while...
Maybe if the the standard Pivot towers are steel vs. machined aluminum? Steel has a density of ~8g/cc, 3x Aluminum at 2.7g/cc.
I'm confused about the design - emailed Salomon so we will see what they say. Doesn't seem to have impacted my alpine boots with harder plastics.
Can confirm, the strives feel fine. In fact, they make the STH2's look massive in comparison.
One weird design choice that I don't understand is the stepped toe rollers. Photo below. The rollers...
They claim this is lighter... but is it not the same weight as the 1.0? (ordered anyway...)
This looks like a mess up and showing that they put Blank topsheets on the 118s for the pros... There is no cork damplifier to be seen behind that topsheet.
This really sucks! Already have pivots mounted waiting for these new kits...
My Pomoca tail clip is broken - what do you all consider the best tail clip to replace it with?
Thanks! This is much appreciated! Will post more once I've had time in the boots. Great experience so far.

Just picked up the ultra xtd Boas - stoked! A couple questions:
1. When adjusting the forward lean, the instructions in the box indicate that a wedge shaped piece either needs to be removed for...
Any updates from those with these mounted up?
I went on MTN line, given that I ski my regular 106s at +1.5.
Will there be new CASTs this year?
Is there any difference from the boa to non-boa? I had to crank down the boa so much that it took much longer than buckles. Also, in Canada they are $100 cheaper with standard buckles. And a cool 6g...
I'm mounting up a set of Alpinists next week and would happily test these. To be used in the PNW as a dedicated big day/non-pow touring setup (QST 106 echos)
I just measured my 2015 pivots (the ones that shipped with toe shims to adjust the delta) and strives last week.
Pivots of that vintage are 5mm with alpine AFD.
Strives are the same as STH2...
The delta is actually negative with the boots I am using, and I prefer a positive delta of ~4mm. Especially with a more upright boot. Personal preference!
For those who have mounted Alpinists with heel shims - where did you get the longer screws? I can't for the life of me fine one that is 6mm longer than stock. Every shop in whistler came up dry, the...
Alta - would you still go this route with travel in Europe and Argentina? I have always preferred ~105mm skis in these lower snow regions.
Standard ISO 5355 (Alpine). These are the circa 2015 pivots with 5mm binding delta, where I think they only came in alpine norm.
I'll check fwd pressure which currently is set based on the...
Question about pivots. Is there a way to check that the toe height is to spec?
Most bindings I target a toe height where I can just barely pull a piece of paper out from the AFD.
For my pivots,...
I'm surprised at the very high delta on touring bindings vs. alpine.
Are we talking about the same kind of delta? Or do I need to treat them differently across binding classes?
With my new...
Hi all, any updates from those with Strives?
Have we confirmed that Strives and STH MN are both ~4.5-5mm delta?
I'm looking to add some 2.5mm heal shims to Pivots to match the ramp of my STH/Strives.
Is it as simple as getting screws that are 2.5mm longer?
Does anyone here understand the different SP40 options? What would the best option be for touring/camping general use and the occasional night mountain bike ride?
Wow - the lynx looks amazing. Does anything else compete with that?
Has anyone tried using heel shims to get the pivot ramp angle / binding delta the same as on an STH2?
