I'd go by edge length. I've found that to be the best thing for figuring out what Moments I should get.
Had a few seasons in both (inbounds and out). Not sure I'd call the Scout "skiing better", but it definitely is softer. Before I destroyed the rear lip with marker bindings I was up skiing my Scouts...
Yeah man without going full euro skimo style ugly helmets you're not going to find much that best the MTN Lab (from what I remember of my research).
Skimo.co has the best selection I've found

You'd be better off with elastic to "close" the bottom. But Aquaseal SR sticks to nearly everything if you're dead set on glueing.
Shame the last on those things isn't great unless you have the exact foot shape that works with them.
Yeah the ZeroG 95 is definitely a pretty amazing ski for how light it is vs how damp it feels.
No, the Vipecs do not.
They have ski flex compensation that utilizes a spring for that action, like many other modern fully featured tech bindings that try to claim "elastic travel". Race style...
Big toe is a little cramped but this is one of the only boots that doesn't crush the shit of out my instep (which is one of the key areas for hot blood to go to your foot). There is a few local/close...
Well the space blanket on the liners definitely did insulated my feet better. They are starting to wear a bit (which I expected) but not too bad. Will upload photos later.
Well let's see if this works out. Have a hut trip this weekend with a 7mile approach in teens temps.
Just super77'd bits of a mylar blanket to the toebox and sole + a bit of wrap.

Ski'd both the vipecs and tectons for years. You do notice the lack of heel elasticity in the Vipecs inbounds, but having the elasticity in the toes really does help. The Tectons are a notable...
Loving my F1 LT's but the only bc boot I've had trouble with keeping my toes warm (and my feet normally run hot). Anyone played with putting insulating tape (thinking either Mylar or Polyimide/...
Could it be the Belafonte replacement I've been holding out for...please let it be triple camber
Man most of my touring skis would feel scary at 50mph.
You might be gambling. Skimo.co and their measurements.
My 90's measure 94mm and my 115's measure 120
I've not tried a Volie strap yet. It's just the cam strap UX is nice since you can just pull on one thing to tighten and one to loosen and not have to align or fiddle with anything. Those new '23...
I was in that boat too...
Don't forget to be looking for the Underworld's that was basically the DWT 106 before the DWT 106. That's how I filled that urge.
You could also get this and make your tlt's compatible with the Tectons. But might not be worth sinking that cost and effort into such an old boot.
Also I've run 2nd gen vipec toes with Tecton...
Does anyone have a recommendation for a cam buckle power strap that has elasticity and isn't heavy af like a Booster? I have some old velcro elastic Scarpa ones that I like except for the velcro bit.
+1 for swapping around my Vipec and Tecton pieces all the time
Used them a bunch all over CA/OR (Tahoe, Shasta, Ashland, Crater Lake) and even in CO when it's not too cold. Love em. Think BD is making a version where the mitt has some insulation as well.
As Matt said it's something that needs to be put in the mold design in the beginning. An insert/ blocker isn't always a "free" feature and can make the mold cost more expensive and potentially wear...
You'd have to have some sort of blocker in the mold since you'd have more plastic in that area (without the insert) so it wouldn't effect the flow and cooling of the mold. Might warp if plastic just...
After many more seasons in the full ZGTP still feel the same.
Drill out the rivets and replace with chicago rivets (ie threaded fasteners). Still pisses me off that they made the rivets look like they are an allen bolt
Looks like the molded plastic bit interfaces where the toe "block" tapers towards the arch to stop it rotating/slipping.
So from a bottom view

All u-springs do wear. Been using my Trofeo's for a few seasons and they show wear but not enough to change release characteristics yet.
Nope, didn't have anything to do with the cable, turret didn't pop off. Can't quite tell in the photo but it popped out about 2/3's of the stitches on the upper BOA as well and the material between...
Having worked with BOA professionally, I can tell you that just slapping BOA on a piece of footwear where it wasn't designed for doesn't lead to the same enhancement than if you design the piece of...
I too really want to hear this story. And wonder if ON3P feels a little bummed that they didn't get the call as the more local ski maker to MS.
I've found quite the opposite with BOA equipped touring boots. It works much better at getting my foot locked down without smashing the crap out of my tall instep. Which is a tricky thing to do since...
You haven't figured out a mount that you like yet?
BOA has been developing it for 5+ years. It definitely is not just a scaling up your normal dial. As someone with a stupid high instep vs the rest of my foot volume I'm interested to try it.
...
Ah the Salomon inbounds BOA is finally coming out.
Better skin tracks = no need for the high riser :D
Another vote for the MTN. Saved my life twice. First on Shasta from a softball piece of conglomerate rock smashing into it. Second when a shark flung me into some trees giving me a TBI even with the...
It's not that they're garbage liners they are just designed to prioritize touring performance a bit more than downhill performance. I took the stock ZGTP ones (got Intuition Tour Pro's as well) and...
Used those a bunch till I lost them. The main downside is they don't have a very good antiglare coating. So any light that's kinda sideways on them gives a fair bit of glare. I'm all about Tifosi for...
Going to a 1k category boot makes you realize how much energy you've been wasting for years going uphill with overlap boots. Don't get me wrong I have both ZGTP's and the F1LT. But for a lot of tours...
Like F1LT light?
To anyone looking to resole things. The glue they use in production of shoes is basically the same as the good Barge Cement (not the safer kind) or Pilobond 20, 25 (lower VOC but will still get you...
Bump
I put Tecnica ZGTP liners in my Backland Carbons and they worked really well. So if you can find a pair of those on the cheap from someone who put intuitions in theirs?
I'm glad being light means my pair of belafonte's from the same year have plenty of life still in them.
Protest with Vipecs, like your style
This was just my experience but both my toe holes were slightly out of spec. Which meant when I just went by template it misaligned to toes enough to cause prereleases. So you might want to do the...
Interesting to see the Helio 115 and Impulse 112 only go up to 185/186 now. Bigboiz need not apply.
Finally got myself some F1 LT's so passing these along. They've gotten me up and down a number of 14ers in multiple states, some top 15 skimo finishes, and lots of fun. One of the forefoot buckles...
A bit of an obscure sale but those who know Peter's work knows he does great stuff (got a set of his skimo sticks that ski better than Salomon Minims). These are blems so slightly off shaped nose,...
