Check the headset for play. I've had 6 of them and the headset on 4 of then needed to be adjusted after a few years of many miles.

I love the straight, dark, just like stepping on a car brake pedal, rear tire lock up. This is not only a rookie bush league move, but also very prevalent in foot forward position cruiser bikes....
