Next year's TX Comp is the new product I'm most excited...
I too swapped in the Tour Wraps, I found the OEM liners too short, but it remained just as hard to go into ski mode. Maybe even more because of the extra space taken up by the wrap.
The cables are...
I know, I know that "one move transitions" and "pants down always" are the greatest boot innovations since buckles, but I kinda hate the Hoji Lock, and I do love these boots.
Transitioning from...
Thanks to Snowaddict91, a pair of BNIP Zealots arrived at my doorstep today! Fat Yeti, thanks for your kind offer, but the seller was willing to ship.
Now, I can go a couple more years without...
Thanks snowaddict! Those new Zealots are all I want for Christmas. Just msg'd the seller.
Please keep any Zealot sightings coming, I would stock up on more than one pair if I can.
Thanks Fat Yeti! I just messaged seller. If he refuses to ship, I will definitely be begging you for shipping help.
[QUOTE=singlecross;7157293]I have Zealots for sale… $125 shipped?
I want 182s
Any former Zealot owners found a ski they like as much? My fourth and final pair is pretty clapped out, but every time I ski something else and get back on the Zealots, it is like coming home.

Got the new TX Pros in the same size as the previous ones, both are 26.5/27. The new shell is a few mms shorter and a few mm narrower than the previous model, but the sweet new boot-specific liner...
How exciting and how decision challenging to have a promising, yet untested binding to throw into the mid-weight mix.
Yes, Spider Meadows may be even worse.
I owned a cabin on the south side of Dirtyface for ten years, and i hated June through early July, some years much worse than others.
Lake Wenatchee is the mosquito capital of the world.
At the risk of exposing what a jong I am, if I plan on using these boots exclusively in pin bindings or maybe occasionally Shifts (the horror!), what would be the disadvantage of getting the version...

In case you were curious about the manufacturer bevel in your skis.
I wonder how often the manufacturer's tune sucks, or the base warps in shipping.

I replaced my Instinct with a Coros Pace 2 and like it way better. Lighter, smaller with WAY better battery life.
The Pace is very simple and doesn't have tons of features which is fine with me.

Could there be a chance that the boot is too narrow/tight somewhere and restricting blood flow? The liner is actually decent for 1kg boot but it pinched my foot so badly, I sold before punching like...
Hookers and Blow
(somewhere in the Purcells)
The rearward ROM is worse (maybe not substantially, but definitely less than my Travers). I don't notice it when skinning but DO notice it when scrambling and walking downhill (I use on some ice...
They have?? I got really excited to hear this but both the Scarpa NA and FHL websites show the wire instep strap on the current boots. Where did you see the toothed strap?
Amen to that. The Outlaw X is the binding of my dreams. The drum is beating louder for the non-tour version (love you Inlaws name BTW), I didn't think there was a way to improve this masterpiece but...
I love Crystal but it becomes a second or third tier area in big (windy) storms. First C6 stops, then Rex and the Gondy, and it becomes small really fast. Cache is typically the place is this...
Instead of the Cramplifiers, Auftriib talked me into getting their Saucers since you add and remove with crampons on. No, I haven't used them yet, yes they are crazy expensive. But they are super...
The tight gaiter and difficulty getting both the foot and liner in and out of the Peaks are the only thing I don't like, love everything about this boot
Muchas gracias nkimmes and Spyderjon
Any know the M5 screws (length and head shape) needed for the Haute Route 10?
Binding Freedom lists the screws needed only for the Raider/Free Raider and the Crest.
Quiver Killer lists the...
Dostie's site Backcountry Talk is brilliant. Highest signal to noise ratio on the interwebs.
Yes, everyone that posts is over 50 and waxes nostalgically about their Targas and 200cm Kazamas but a...
I don't know about the Procline LT but they are bringing the Rush LT back this Fall which, I think, will be a double weave soft shell with vents and three pockets. It actually comes in two colors and...
Going to the Seattle ProSki has always (under the current owners) been a chaotic shit show with a lot of attitude thrown at the customers for fun. Loved that place when Martin owned it, and under the...
Amazing amount of geographic nihilism in this thread.
I've skied everywhere and actually like cities and there is no better skiing city than Seattle in the US. Best mountaineering in the US...
I am also interested in hearing opinions about the Backland UL 78s, but getting more excited about the Dynafit Blacklight Pro (80mm waist) but hard to find many reviews of them.
Anyone have...

I have settled on the Haute Route/Helio 200 as my next binding, but still wonder about the single spring on the Monolink toe wings from an elasticity and release point on view (I recently tore my ACL...
Whoa, I just started reading this thread one page ago. Someone (or lots of someones) must have discussed in the last two hundred plus pages the difference between a ski's true center versus the...
On which skis does the manufacturer put a ski center mark? I've mounted dozens of pairs and I have never come across a ski center mark.
Not to get into the weeds (but I will) isn't a straight pull divided by 2 the "chord center." Blister et. al. reference "true center" which I thought was the straight line from tip to tail below the...
This is flat out not true. Any free heel binding is much safer than a U spring binding. I've got thousands of days on tele with no injuries as undisputable truth. 😎
Another data point - I'm 170lbs and a relatively aggressive skier, except no big airs. I've skied the men's spring for the last four years and really can't remember if Ive ever released. I ski on...

I have the current Carbon Travers and love it. I have the newer Maestrale (Orange) which I rarely use since the Carbon Travers skis downhill almost as well and uphill much better. The fiddle factor...
The F1 is the best fitting boot I have tried.
The Maestrale are a tad too high volume, Aliens way too low volume and weird, F1 = just right.
Also, based on a few minutes of carpet testing, the Alien felt way stiffer/more powerful than the other two. It felt equivalent to an F1.
I considered all three. I really wanted the Alien RS but it was way too low volume and narrow for me. A sweet boot if it fits.
The Backland is time tested but really nothing special.
I went...
Just wondering to hear from anyone else who has been at the backcountry game for more than a few years what your thoughts are about the relatively recent phenomena of using FB, IG, certain forums...
I wishing they offered the touring version without so much tail rocker. The Wildcat 108's tail looks horrible for skinning.
How do the people that have skied the QST 118 like 'em?
I have pair still in the wrapper, but wasn't thrilled Outdoor Gear Lab (who have great climbing gear reviews, maybe more iffy ski gear...
The ski they don't make (yet) is the one I am interested in the most = a Mythic 107.
The ski they currently make that I am interested in is the Legend Factory (117mm). Seems like this ski has been...
I ski about 65 days a year - 50 on tele gear and 15 on fixed heel gear and when I heard that podcast I thought that the best way to get bio-mechanical feedback is to use modern tele gear. I prefer...
At the risk of sending too many mags over to a very civil site and forum, I think Craig Dostie (now on Earn Your Turns) easily writes the most thorough and least bias reviews in the business and he...
Back to Dynastar - anyone know if the Mythic will be offered in a wider size (e.g., 107) next year?
You ski to the snout of the Mer de Glace, huck a lung climbing the stairs, and then take the cog train down to Cham. I have never seen a more dramatic example of glacial recession as there, the climb...
