It's not on the St-Lawrence, the good skiing is in the middle of the Gaspe Peninsula, near Mont Albert, really in the middle of nowhere. This is about where it is...

Did it (for only 3 weeks though) in 2006. Mostly solo. Argentina was a lot cheaper than Chile and it probably still is. Value for money was unbelievable and I felt it was totally doable solo.

Sion/Nendaz for easy access to Verbier would be a great choice. I still think that Bourg St-Maurice has the most amazing amount of terrain within a 30 minute drive of anywhere in the world.

Did both last year. I liked Silver a bit better, thought it was slightly steeper than Schweitzer overall, even if it was smaller. Both good resorts for a day or 2.
