Either 6 or 10 was open all day on Friday at KW. 10 ran from 10:45/3:00 continuously.

Kirkwood started closing by date a lot of years ago. When snowboarding was in its heyday, gas was cheap, and day tickets were $25 it might have made sense. Now, nobody goes. I can't blame them...

In my view the caltrans website has become cryptic with regard to 88 eastbound from Kirkwood.

I've tested fate too many times and lost. You can check in Sutter Creek or Placerville and make the call. Key is getting through 50 before commute traffic. Pollock Pines by 6am.

On days like this it's always better to drive around. Easy to bail to Heav if you have to. It's only an hour more.

Tomorrow shouldn't be a problem but you will need awd or chains. Monday could be a problem because of destructive winds causing closure but the routes to Reno from TC rarely close.
