Not a main shutoff - but I've had enough plumbing "projects" leak at old valves after I've fixed the immediate problem that I twitch at the idea of old shutoffs... fuckin' things. :mad:

One thing I'd suggest, which you may already be considering, is to add a newer, more convenient shutoff while you're going through all this...

I'd probably pull that toilet and find one with a really low profile tank... that's some BULLSHIT, right there.

You should be able to get the filler valve out without removing anything - just take the collar off from the bottom, raise it into the bowl a bit, then turn it on its side and pull through the gap.
