Wrong.
Turns out having 10 000 workers commuting on two roads that junction in a shopping district was really shitty long term planning.
NIMBY at its finest. Bike paths instead of infrastructure.

Why do you need workers if nobody lives there? Move all those jobs to Driggs and let Jackson go fallow. Problem solved.
Either a gondola from ID to stilson.
Or a monorail
Or a chunnel
Wyoming's gonna have to start paying taxes if they want fancy boondoggle toys like that.
Upscale van fucks like me can roll in to Jackson make 40$, get a hot springs or fitness center membership, stay just outside of town or wherever and do pretty well.
I just landed a deluxe job w a private ranch or thats what if do. It's what I'm doing in bozo.
Easy life.
Great! Who needs subsidized housing then? Seattle is trying out vanlife for worker housing too, but it's not working out as well:

I'll be right over to post up, shoot up, shit and piss all over your front lawn.
Yeah, good luck with that. Those days are gone.
Thanks to the housing shortage and instagraming vanlife douchebags, those dispersed car campsites are now designated site only and very tough to get. National forest rangers put a traffic counter on shadow mountain and there were 300-400 vehicles a day going up there vying for the handful of sites that open up. There's rangers up there every day and a host, writing down your plates.
Most places anywhere near Jackson, stays on national forest are now limited to 5 nights. If the rangers see you around too much, you'll be charged with "residing" on national forest lands, a misdemeanor, even if you are bouncing around between areas.
^I've been full time for almost 3 yrs. I've never stayed at a campsite.
Jackson would be no prob. As long as you are not posting up throwing garbage everywhere and looking like a vagrant, the town is open arms to ppl willing to work and help the community.
I spent the day down there last fall talking w cops, ppl that live there and business owners etc. All good.
Just outside of town in all directions is nowhereville WY.
It's the same in Bozeman.
Byates has a very stealthy rig. It's pro level for undercover van life.
This would work too

Noone w half a brain would want to stay in town. National forest everywhere. Virtually no law. Couldn't be easier.
I've literally been doing it for almost 3 years and 7 winters.
He's "upscale" by his own estimation so of course the forest ranger peons will make an exception for him.
Virtually no law? Try again. The fact you say that shows you are just talking out of your ass. The forest service has regulated the fuck out of all the nearby camping zones. They had to because unregulated dispersed car camping areas all had literally hundreds of pounds of human shit piling up in them.
Enforcement is a priority. Its heavily patrolled plus there's local nimbys who volunteer to go around and write down plate numbers for the Freddies. Good luck with that.
So your telling a full time van guy who has stayed near Jackson dozens of times over the years that it's not possible? Wtf. You must live near Benny in Connecticut.
Jackson allows overnight parking near the rec center in the center of town.
I literally talked a a sheriff explained I was thinking of working in town etc. All good.
Are you heading to Breckenridge for a big ski vacation next year?
You have to apply for one of those spots at the Rec Center and employees get first dibs champ.
LEOs are very informed of the laws they’re paid to enforce and never, ever lie.
This is definitely incorrect information.
Sure, you could get lucky…but technically, no sleeping in vehicles of any kind is allowed in town, and you can be ticketed, and/or told to leave privately owned parking lots, such as the grocery stores, powderhorn plaza (REI) , etc, etc. They usually leave the fancier/neater rigs alone, but hassle some skidmobiles that they see too often. All of those classic RV spots near the rec center have been eliminated with bike lane bollards, fwiw.
Joe Rice owns 7 restaurants and counting in Jackson and likes me very much.
I also do private work for " ppl of means"
It's not that fucking complicated
Joe rice owns apartment buildings for his employees, but doesn’t own parking spots, except his own. However, I think he rents all of his restaurant spaces, and not the lots. (?) Maybe the new Sidewinders if you know him, (owned by Fine Dining Group) but I don’t think his employees are allowed to live out of vehicles at any those properties.
Rules? Ha.
Exactly. I have permission to stay on property. Never needed it.
There is a vet clinic heading out of town, w a steep climb up a road behind it that dead ends in a storage area. Perfect.
Any pullout on the Idaho side of the pass. And pullout heading to alpine. The pullout out by the airport.
Anywhere really. But what do I know. I've only been doing it all over the united states' full time for the last three years.
Pretty sure Joe owns most of his places land and all.
Nope, he surely doesn’t. Maybe one or two.
It’s in the public records, though.
Everyone heading to Jackson to live that #vanlife, just call up Joe Rice when you get there.
Tell him byates1 sent ya!
It's prob the parent company he and his army buddies own.
Lets move on to hearing about how neck deep looks up all the rules and how excited he is for his big Colorado ski vacation next year..
No, it’s a variety of different owners who rent to him.
You need to stop, you really don’t know what you are talking about.
At least two are my wife’s clients.
I don't have to look it up. It's been in the local paper. Those of us who actually live here know these things. We can see the changes brought about by douchebag upscale vanlifers who scoff at the rules.
Just try to poach campsites on shadow or curtis and see how long that works out for ya.
Semantics. But you are a Jackson og, noone is a cool as you. Right on.
Happy Monday bitches
Every body got smoke in their vagina like denver
Van life for the win
Yeah it's summer. Time to argue.
Tourist "vanlife" is pretty easy to pull off just about anywhere for <5 days. Full time in one spot is a whole different ballgame.
^ I just parked in your yard last night you didn't notice!?:)
