I've even lost the feeling they'll blow it at any time, it's quite liberating.
Greg Rousseau looks the part and they just traded a solid rotational DE to the Panthers because they had too many.
OG situation is less than ideal and I'm not sold on CB depth or the #2 spot opposite Tre White, probably the best LB corps since McBeane got here.
Football Sundays soon come!
Let's not forget about Cam.
Allen is certainly a more impressive specimen. He's everything a 13 year old fan wants in a QB, running all over the place making big throws. But in a playoff game happening today I would absolutely bet on Brady or Wilson over Allen. The older guys are less likely to fuck up, and more prepared to adapt on the fly if their offense is getting stifled. These things matter more than making awesome throws on the run.
Like I said, a lot of QB's put together a big season or two. Derek Carr finished 3rd in the MVP voting. Carson Wentz was the favorite before he tore his ACL 2107. Cam Newton did won an MVP. They all looked like the future of the game for a while there. They weren't.
I am a Josh Allen believer. But I wouldn't pick him over guys with long track records.
I do not believe Lamar Allen is a top 10 QB right now, and I definitely don't think he'll be a top 10 QB in 4 years.
first group
- Mahomes
- Brady
- Rodgers
second
- Watson
- Allen
- Wilson
third
- Prescott
- Tannehill
- Burrow
- Mayfield
- Murray
- Jackson
I'll put Jackson in that third tier, but I'll take every QB in that tier before Lamar. I don't think he's a consistent passer and I don't believe his running is as good as it has been (him slowing down + defenses going smaller/quicker at LB). I also don't think it'll last very long, as his brand of football has more in common with the longevity of RBs than with QBs.
Ok, go ahead and call me an idiot.
Oh my, how many pages is this going to go on for?
Agreed on Lamar. Not even close to a top arm talent.

I can get behind the bills as the AFC team to go for this year.
We appreciate the support, but honestly we'd prefer you just head over to the Browns thread.
I did that last year.
Lamar's a great player; I give the Ravens a ton of credit for building their offense around his skillset.
Despite an extremely impressive resume, he still gets a ton of flack. I don't get it. Between the unanimous MVP, rewriting the record books, W/L record (yes, I know it's a team stat, but there are winning players), you can't argue the results.
I think the best is yet to come from him!
Yeah Lamar is the shit, he’s a good passer. Won MVP and led the league in passing TDs? I will admit there’s still a lot of improvements to be made in his pass game, especially the decision making aspect.
Hoping this JK Dobbins injury doesn’t push the Ravens to run Lamar more.I like it when Lamar runs, but don’t use it as your main play, use it as a threat when the offense is running well and defenses have to account for the pass and RB game.
It was said earlier, the more Lamar runs the more likely he doesn’t last very long in this league.. I mean JK Dobbins is younger than Lamar and just sustained a season ending injury that will hurt the productivity of the Ravens offense
We appreciate the support.
I think Lamar is a very good QB but as mentioned above, I don’t think him running 50 horizontal yards to gain 3 vertical is sustainable. I think the loss of Dobbins will impact Lamar’s game in a very negative way. So much more is on his shoulders now.
The problem with Lamar is that with one minute left and no timeouts there are 20+ QB's that are better than him. Cam Newton at his best had the same problem. There are some situations where running ability just doesn't make up for being a below average passer. Those scenarios come up in the playoffs.
Did someone say Cam?
That’s more Fran Tarkenton…Lamar does his dancing behind the LOS here and there , but the read option , one cut and go stuff is his bread and butter . He’s in a class of his own there.
If Lamar regresses , it won’t be because he’s missing Dobbins . I know everyone is holding their breath waiting for him to become a RB or shred his knee, but I see a player who’s already a top talent at the position and has plenty of room to improve
I'd like to see what 20+ QBs you have ahead of Lamar in a two-minute scenario. 10? sure, but 20??
He needs more/better opportunities to pass and better decision making for sure, but I don't think below average passers lead the league in passing TDs.
Off the top of my head Mahomes, Rodgers, Brady, Wilson, Watson, Allen, Stafford, Murray, Prescott, Carr, Ryan, Tannehill, Mayfield, Cousins, Garappolo, Herbert and Burrow offer more than Lamar in a no pass scenario. Maybe Big Ben, Fitzgerald, Goff
too. Looking at the rookies, Jones, Wilson and Lawrence might be there soon.
People always talk about how a QB that can run adds a dimension that is hard to defend. But when an offense needs the threat of the run to be effective you have a different set of problems. When you're down 10 with 5 minutes left, or you're down 4 with 1 minute left and 1 timeout, the other team doesn't care if you can get 7 yds a carry. They welcome it.

Holy shit... I don't think anyone saw the release of Cam Newton by the Patriots coming this morning!
Eggs are officially in the Mac Jones basket.
Good luck with that. Maybe he’s a guy, but holy hell not having an experienced backup could bite them in the ass real fast if he sucks.
This is horrible. I wanted to see his post game outfits.
Not NFL but this Bishop Sycamore shit that duped ESPN is hilarious.
LOL and the jags just traded away minshew for pennies.
I bet Cam still has a job with the Pats if he had gotten the vax. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
Well if Mac doesn't work out, I don't think Fitzmagic has played with the Pats yet, so he might be available next season.
Most of these guys are available and all have prior starting QB experience:

This is probably the case. The guy is at the stage of his career where he probably wants to hang onto a starting job somewhere and show that he can still get it done. Playing backup to a rookie probably isn't a good fit.
Maybe his resume would look better if he hadn't gotten COVID last year and didn't have to quarantine and sit out this preseason. Oh well. He's probably just done due to age and injury history.

Can we talk about this for a minute?
I don't follow high school sports by any means but this story is just too bizarre to pass up. A made up online "school" with a football program that isn't recognized by Ohio HS Athletic Association that somehow conned their way onto ESPN against AAU University with what sounds like a 30 man roster? Now the coach has a warrant out for his arrest for something related to unpaid hotel bills for the team? They had a former player's dad on the radio this morning and the whole thing just sounds beyond crooked and dangerous for the kids.
I'm sure there will be a 30 for 30 on it soon.
Yeah, that whole thing is beyond messed up. It just raises so many questions about how these "athletics schools" get away with the kids not even really going to school. Then if the kids do go on to college, do they even have a verifiable GPA coming out of these "high schools".
IMG Academy in Florida is $85k per year tuition. I wonder how many of those students go pro? My guess is not many. I'm having trouble thinking of an NFL player who came from a super wealthy family that could afford such tuition...oh yeah, Johnny Manziel.
If Cam signs as back up for that team in Dallas, I will be forced to move on. It was fun while it lasted, Cameron Jerrell Newton (well, it was fun for like 3 seasons).
If gets vaccinated, I hope he signs with WFT. The press conferences would be great: Cam in his shiny $50k suits and Fitzmagic looking like a bearded hobo.
Yes. This is bizarre and I am definitely watching the 30 for 30. How does this happen in the age of internets?
I am also all in for this. Go ahead and make this happen please.
Also, I finally figured out how to multiquote in the app. You should definitely judge me based on the fact that it took me about 2 years to figure it out.
