Are you and glade posting in response to KQ posting that her mom is getting the vaccine? I believe her mom is elderly and in a senior/assisted living community. Are you insane?

People suck unicorn, you should know that. There is an OT I've been working with who has new cardiomegaly at 27 years old after contracting covid in March. Her resting HR when from 52-55 to 74-77. Still has periods of fatigue, she had zero comorbidities and is a runner for fun (crazy girl).

Yeah, I know. I guess it’s baffling in the sense that people in general seem to be willfully ignorant and/or stupid. Like a majority.

I think that's who glademaster was responding to (and I don't disagree) but there are many other examples in this thread. Why are their lives more valuable than minorities living in 3rd world countries without easy access to modern healthcare? Why should those people die, and the privileged white American's live?
Protective can be important. On mobile, for example, it looks like this:

So now you’re a social justice warrior? It must suck going through life disagreeing with everyone and everything just so you can believe you hold the moral high ground.

Done! Another privileged white registered nurse vaccinated against the minority killing virus! [emoji1596]https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...62f13bb5f0.jpg

Rumor is that a significant portion of the eligible workers at the hospital here in town are refusing the vaccine because they don't trust it. And not because they want to let vulnerable people get it first. Therefore, I don't feel bad about my wife getting it.
I'm an RN who works in the ER and we were included in the protocol to protect ourselves so we can protect our population. We all need to take a deep breath and stop throwing around "racism tags" without knowing a fucking thing about someone.

It would be interesting to see a breakdown within the general HCW category. I'll bet the more educated you are, the more likely you are to want the vaccine. Probably a pretty big spread between docs and those who went to Pima Medical.
Also is DeathRaven just the latest incarnation of steepconcrete? Hard to keep up...
More outrage for DR to be outraged about.
Quote:
After briefing reporters Monday on plans to deliver coronavirus vaccines to Nebraska meatpacking plants, Gov. Pete Ricketts (R) was asked whether undocumented workers would be included.
“You’re supposed to be a legal resident of the country to be able to be working in those plants,” Ricketts replied. “So I do not expect that illegal immigrants will be part of the vaccine with that program.”
When his comments quickly went viral, stoking outrage from critics, Nebraska officials rushed to clarify. Immigrants would still qualify for the vaccine, one Ricketts aide said, but those without legal status would have to wait at the back of the line.
The good news is coronaviruses are somewhere around 3-5 times slower to evolve than the flu. The bad news is they do evolve. It looks like people who are immunocompromised or people who undergo convalescent plasma therapy have the potential to make rapid evolution possible which accelerates the whole process.
Even if the UK, Brazil, South African variants are not a problem for the current vaccines, the virus will continue to evolve under selection pressure as more and more people acquire immunity either through vaccines or naturally. The evolutionary process is just one of the reasons why naturally acquired herd immunity was never going to work.
Herd immunity has never been achieved through naturally acquired infections. It is only possible through mass immunization. Because mass immunization is unlikely for all the reasons mentioned in this thread the likely scenario is for the virus to become endemic necessitating booster shots every 2-to-5 years. However, fewer susceptible people makes the endemic scenario less likely while more susceptible people makes it more likely.
Guy at work has a daughter that is a nurse. She got the Pfizer one yesterday and had an allergic reaction. Tongue went completely numb. Ahh, the 80's [emoji3]
Fuck i love the ignore/block feature bye bye DR

She's happy for her mom. It's a relief to her. She's sharing. Most people who are reporting in here regarding their or their family getting the vaccine are relating to those who directly relate with them. What's the problem, other than your looking for a platform to espouse how cool and enlightened you are? You're on the wrong message board if you're looking to change the world.
You people need to stop quoting DR. Just stop. Ignore it and it'll go away...
Wife gets one as she is a therapist we just found out, it's a surprise. Currently she is not doing any in-person sessions, so she is debating to not get one right now.
Due to the shitty rollout of this vaccine, I'm inclined for her to be selfish and get the fucker. It's not illegal for one thing, it was offered to her, and the future is not guaranteed in this chaos so let's add some stability to this household.
On the other hand, she doesn't need it right now and others do so morally it's wrong. But......she is behind all the frontline hospital workers, nursing homes, EMT, etc so who is she stealing from? There isn't an elderly or immune compromised person that is going to the back of the line because of her, it's not that scarce.
WWMD?
Sure, it's possible, but I've also seen a picture of you and your weak attempt at a beard.
Because they've shared the information here. prsboogie is a private school kid from Mass, KQ an affluent white woman in Washington, and riser3 is your average VT dirtbag. What else do you want to know?Quote:
But you still never answered my question.
Get the vaccination. Our current problem is distribution, not vaccine shortages. DJSapp's article from yesterday is a good example of how we should go about vaccinating people: vaccinate by priority first but don't hold any in reserve. If there's vaccine sitting on a shelf at the end of the day then pull people off the street and vaccinate them too. Vaccinate the UPS driver, the FedEx driver, the pizza delivery guy, and whoever happens to be walking by. Worry less about who gets it, just vaccinate more people.
I understand, but that's exactly the latent racism I am pointing out. To her, the health of her elderly mother who lives in a facility with health care practitioners, medicine & oxygen on site is more valuable than the lives of people of Africa who live an areas where there aren't even roads to access the meager heath care resources that may exist there. Who needs the vaccine more?
I understand that some might be daunted by the uphill battle of fighting racism on a message board devoted to wealthy white pursuits but that is exactly why it is so important to take a stand and refuse to accept the racist views espoused here.
Ms Boissal is getting her second dose tomorrow. The wifi reception has greatly improved at the house but we also got a new router so the data is a bit murky...
We just found out that her sister and her husband, both rabid COVID deniers and all-around residents of kook town, tested positive today. He is symptomatic, she's not. Ms Boissal has been at war with them since this started and they've gone out of their way to be giant shitheads: went to Mexico in Nov, got sick there, refused to get tested, immediately went to see her parents when they got back then flew to his parents for Thxgiving, refused to skip Xmas dinner, dick-nosed their way through it, the works. At least now that they're infected they have a good reason to decline the vaccine for a while.
It's unpossible

Now give me some quarters for the jukebox...
OK - Just looked at the survey methodology and cross-tabs here https://www.kff.org/report-section/k...20-cross-tabs/
Health Care Workers were evenly split on the question of vaccination as 'personal choice' vs 'everyone's responsibility' too.
That's been his argument all along. All his friends got it and nobody died, what's the big deal?? They were genuinely surprised when Ms Boissal tore into them for hanging out with the parents after they got back from Mexico. They flat out refuse to believe people > 65 with a bunch of other health issues are at increased risk.
Yup. It angers me to no end that CA is currently sitting on 1.4 million doses because we can't figure out who should go first. Meanwhile, the fire burns brighter every day. If she can get it, get it because it will just create more govt confusion if she doesn't.
My 0.02 is that no vaccine should be left on the shelf at close of business every day until we get everyone. There should be a standby line that opens at 1pm for anyone to get the leftovers from the days work.

Your transparent attempt at using Steep logic has outed you. Take a lap you fucking beater.Quote:

You perving on photos of me is kinda creepy. To be clear I have zero interest in trading pics with you. Just to shut that idea down right off the bat.
Again though I wanted to know how you knew everyone’s skin color and location. Knowing some details about a few people on here isn’t at all special or impressive (most of us can post facts about a few other posters) nor does it do anything but continue to avoid answering the question.
Carry on though - we can tell you feel special about this high horse you are on. Who am I to deprive you of that?
